King Bling,

You really know how to get a reduction in bill size dont you!

As for Pukka Pies...might as well keep it in the (tvr) family...Mr P P does own a rather nice Tvr!

Jon,

Yep guess you were not wrong there, got her running yesterday, took a bit longer as we wanted to ensure that everything was right before connectng the electrics back up -thanks to the CRE boys for their input as this was not part of the original "specification".

Started first time, oil pressure good, sound system as expected A1 banana, and as Trevor stated the engine emmisions smelt right....not over rich. Actually saw Jamie smile with a nice look of "I expected no less", it was run @ 2k revs for a while to bed in the cam, no issues with fuel leaks (i expected these as the whole system had been apart and mainly replaced) plus no water leaks either!

Alarm system did not throw one, only electrical issues sit with the washer motor, it is getting feed but will not play, and the reverse lights staying on...problem with the reverse light switch, disconnected for now.

Although I have only had it upto to 4th gear the gearbox and diff appear to be fine, the tracking and suspension set up makes it feel like it is on ice though!

As I do not want to scrub the fronts, it will be a case of trailer to get it set up at Adrian's and again for MOT.

Although limited in revs the engine sounds really good, it appears to be very responsive, with the "CRE Twins" confident of decent numbers and performance..., thanks for keeping an eye out!

Jamie,

Hmmm bit late I guess as the bill is now due, didn't know the trivia about Mr P P quality car as well as pies that will be then !

As I said earlier thanks to Trevor and your good self for the engine rebuild, big valve conversion, and the additional stuff appreciated, all delivered AS ORIGINALLY DISCUSSED and at agreed budget, refreshing to say the least.

And finally if I have to be King Bling you two must be the "CRE Twins"

David,

That's a pity there is always the run out to Wales on the 7th May....

Oh yeah, got the Chimaera back on the road (legally) yesterday, passed the MOT no problem, : emissions were well within tolerances, brakes passed but I will bleed them again as since running the engine and the servo the pedal is not as firm.

Only a few minor snags on the list:

1. Speedo not working...now fixed the washer on the speedo sensor was too thick...thanks to Adrian Venn for spotting this
2. Handbrake light staying on....caused by new micro swith with two connections ...had one wire and two contacts I had chose the wrong one....partially fixed, but I will be replacing the micro switch with another new one with a longer arm with a "roller" on it. adrian reckons I need a longer bracket to hold the switch....fiddly job
3. Hand brake needed to be adjusted as it was too slack, now done.

Apart from the above (touch wood) things appear to be good, done about 60 odd miles so far, running the engine in as Jamie suggested warm her through stay below 3.5K revs, but even at this she pulls like a train and sounds the LOUD! Glad I kept the main cat in now cos I reckon with the pre cats out, staright thru pipes and the engine mods she is loud enough.

Oh yeah I have declared ALL of the mods to my insurance company, cost me an additional £40 odd quid but worth it IMHO.

Yes I will post some pics just not had five minutes this eeek hence the post at this time in the morning before I start work on the handbrake switch.

I can tell you one thing though came back from Adrains last night sun was out, roof off stupid colour coded glassses on...and I guess I will leave the lid off on my way over to Coventry in half an hour or so....I know it's a cliche (not sure on spelling!), but makes you realise why we go to the bother of running these cars!!

Cheers

Well done Steve, good to see you've got her back on the road again in time for the Summer. Does this mean you'll make it to the Yellow Meet?

Spoke to a couple of folk at the Griff Growl today...said they had read this thread with interest.

so a quick update is overdue....the above problems were sorted courtesy of Adrian Venn.

The engine has been really good, pulls really well and shakes a stick at bigger engined stuffbiggrin, I have done about 6k miles in her since the rebuild and all has been good, passed a second MOT this year without issue.

Initially had one electrical problem with a hanging wire in the transmission tunnel, this was swinging freely and hitting the hot exhaust blowing a 30 amp fuse then swinging back away again....so took some finding!!

I have done a few other things to the car including Tuscan seats, an additional set of wheels and odds and sods.....still do bits to it as it is an ongoing project...

Now that I know how to post some pictures have a looks at these.....

Engine built and ready for implant:

Box mated up and ready to be lifted in:

Car body sat on four post rig ready for engine:

Engine in ready for stuff to be connected:

I'll post some more up when I get five!
