Hi, don't want to start my first posting on a negative point but why are you all praising the Chimp that was on the TVRCC stand, it has had different wheels put on (Not factory Chimp issue) and the two front wings are totally wrong.
I agree it looks stunning in the flesh, BUT its not a real TVR CHIMP or am I missing the point of classic cars, I thought originality was key....

Yup, you're right and I'm wrong, silly of me and many others who appreciated it [are you a pseudonym of someone on here?]I agree it looks stunning in the flesh, BUT its not a real TVR CHIMP or am I missing the point of classic cars, I thought originality was key....
If you read the opening firstly it states I was asked again by the club to display the car. They have the view that it could've been a natural progression for the Chimaera that the factory may have taken had they still been made and my intention all along was to have the car looking 'factory' with mods being TVR sourced as much as possible. Apologies for short terse reply, as I'm en route to the garage to dismantle it
PS; It's not a 'chimp' it is a Chimaera, the original name from factory is TVR Chimaera, or have I got that wrong too? Knob.

Mac mate, just to help stop you getting wound up, look at TVR4US profile and his comments, garage section and you'll see it's only someone pulling your leg.
I'm sure you've already worked this out but I couldn't rest any longer worrying that you might not have ...........and NO it's not me !!

Answer: You answered that yourself when you stated it looks stunning in the flesh.. Also... I'm guessing you've trolled around the TVR forums long enough now to know that the term 'Chimp' is usually used as a derogatory expression and is a favourite of the icon owners

Bigger wheels = bigger brakes... you may not know but standard fit on the Chimaera was 15" on the front. Obviously bigger wheels aren't to everyone's taste, although personally I never have much liked the standard 400/450 style wheels..As for the front wings, or to be more specific the headlight arrangement, I think they're horrible.... (Mac, mate, I'm really sorry about that, really really sorry. Ever so. I'm just being honest... really sorry mate)

Unfortunately, use of the word 'Chimp' is expected (in some perverse fashion) when we here it from one of the icon owners.... hearing it from someone new to the Chimaera forum is rather irksome... well for me it is So, classic cars & originality... Personally I do not put my Chimaera into the classic car bracket, but I would consider it a future classic As Mac said, he was invited to display the car on the TVR stand, it's almost a work of automotive art and shows how stunning these cars can be made to look, something for others to enjoy looking at. As for originality, it's a personal choice, but keeping the car 'as it left the factory' isn't for me or many others... Check out the MCC thread on the Chimaera forum and it'll give you an idea of a lot of peoples thoughts on keeping it original
On a last note, some people buy TVR's as an investment, keep them as totally original garage queens, and you may be one of these people. For me and a lot of others it's about passion, the passion of owning them, modifying them, and driving them.
And on a last last note, if it was meant as a wind up it certainly worked on Mac

Thanks mate, I thought as much TBH and took the opportunity to explain myself, though why I should have to is a shame. Myself and Neal have a shortlist of suspects.I'm sure you've already worked this out but I couldn't rest any longer worrying that you might not have ...........and NO it's not me !!
