wonder what something like this will do to the car...it has little wings and a big splitter.

The ACT ones are slightly different.Mine are homemade its just a piece of either aluminium or stainless steel with a slight fold in it and its best to just rivet it in place.
The idea of rivets is if you do catch it, it will rip off easy with out damage to your car, you just refit another using slightly larger diameter rivets.
Some have used a piece of plastic angled gutter as a splitter, and this works fine also.
