Shnozzle,

The voice mail I have left you says,

We just sound tested a 4.0 Chim with a Sports exhaust.

3000RPM = 103dbA
4000RPM = 105dbA (may have been 108 actually. Confirm it with the voicemail which was recorded directly afterwards).
Max = 120dbA

Thought you might like to know this since the car was the same spec as yours.

Be interested in the results Phil
Got a dB meter at work, might have to bring that home and give it a try.
Perhaps if we parked together with Craig we would be somewhere up in thunderstorm territory

Goodwood test at 4500 revs i.e. 3/4 not 2/3rds. If the car is 108 at 4000 then you have no chance!

My 500 with no sports exhaust got 96dbA at 3000RPM
(or was it 4000? What ever, the figures were below 98 which kept me happy).

sounds like good fun mate. Definately need to sort something out for some serious sideways action in mine. Think I will get the line of events out the way over the next few months first although definately proposing to be doing the 1/4 mile run at thorney island.

Cuzza and I had a few beers last night and he was telling me how quick your car was also discussing thorney island since he cant make PF. must sort out the plan for thorney island soon - preferably pre-le mans as wasnt the closing date 23rd June IIRC?

PS - going to risk the current tyres on the chim for le mans and onwards. Should be ok so long as I dont include myself in any silly behaviour When I get back I am going to try out the Toyos. If I dont get on with them I can always get rid of them quickly

PPS - car is at the docs at the moment and no wonder the handling hasnt been A1, the shocks are leaking...

Shnozz. I have Toyos on mine. They're tidy. Get them from mytyres.co.uk £300 for 4 fitted.

I'd love to do a trackday but I can't afford to replace them again just yet. Also, I have no cats so mine is quite loud. I don't think they'd let me on!

monkeypilot. cheers for that mate. Price sounds good. I am not sure whether to replace the fronts to be honest. Currently have very new Bridgestones on the front but they were put on before i bought the car and more a exec car tyre than a sports tyre - ie not SO2's or 3's... Loathe to chuck out another £150 when the tyres on there have only done 3k. Still, will think about that when I return...

decats... mmm. I will struggle myself as mine has straight through pipes.A paid of bolt on silencers and I am hoping I just fall below the requirements but 1/4 mile runs should be ok.

Shnozz, thats shocking, hope it didnt dampen your spirts too much. Im sure you can handle the situation fine.

I managed to win a start stop competion on Sunday too. We had to accelerate off a line and stop on a line about 300 meters further in the best time possible.

Well at least I thought I had won until a certain bloke called Joust came along in a Noble! Battled with him for a while, each beating one anothers times one after the other. He finally ended up with 9.46 and me with 9.51 (although I may have slid a little bit! )

I was chuffed to get that close to the Nobles time though. Joust took me for a spin in it on the circuit after and it went through the chicane a lot quicker than the Griff (as was expected).

Most corners were sideways in the Griff, a little bit too sideways on the corner after the ~1 mile straight!

It was a fantastic day, I'll have a chat with Craig about doing one too.
