I was fitting my new shiny wideband gauge and sensor today so I can see how bad my lucas system is so then I have a good enough excuse to buy a new ECU kit
But in my haste and excitement (come on we all have been there) I connected up the battery the wrong way round and then turned the key
I got fuses melted, relays going nut, wipers with a mind of there own, and feck all power to every thing
Looks like im going to have a very very busy day tomorrow sorting my c0ck ups

Any one else done a similar cock up in excitement >?

Just got the exhaust back together with the Boss welded on the Y-piece, hopefully wiring up the wideband tonight. Think I will do a few extra checks before turning the key. I'd be an even bigger T1T if i made the same mistake after reading this.
Out of interest what did you use for the switched live?. I'm planning to use the White / orange wire from the relay which currently feeds the narrow band sensors.
Hope you get yours sorted out mate.

Ive had a lot of 'little' mistakes lately but how can someone connect the battery the wrong way?
Massive schoolboy error
My last mistake was to replace the coil while forgetting the ignition was armed.
A short soon took out my 100 amp fuse and was why i ran out of electricity
The car managed 160 miles before the battery gave up.

How did you manage it, the battery terminals are normally different sizes to avoid this?
Ouch hope there is nothing to bad and the fuses did there job.
Yeah I know there different sizes but it wasn't my tvr battery I was using at the time, it was just another freshly charged battery i had in the garage which was half thr weight and easy to move about to test thingsOuch hope there is nothing to bad and the fuses did there job.
Yeah I blew ALOT of fuses and one relay, all fixed now, wideband in place and working,
