My 96 500 Chim has Ford calipers, I'd reckon the 4.0 would be the same. Sierra or Granada I think. Peter Beeches workshop notes (http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/Peter_Beech/TVR/Index.htm) has this info.

Its Ford essentially Sierra or Escort. There are about 6 different variations in disc size, calliper size and so on.
Best advice is measure and compare to the original.

Can anyone tell me what braking system is used for the 4.0ltr chimp (circa 1995)? I'm assuming it's either Ford or Vauxhall!!
Thery are off various Fords -- there are more details in this dicussion here: www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=7755&f=8&h=0&hw=brakes
And it's NOT A CHIMP. Chimps have long hairy arms and make 'oo-oo' noises. Your Chimaera has an oily lump of ally up front and makes growling noises...
Its pretty easy to see where Chimp comes from. Griffith gets shortened to Griff, which sounds fine. Shorten Chimeara in the same fashion and (if you pronounce it Tchim-aira, not shim-eera, or shim-aira or Kai-meera, or Kai-maira - how do you eat yours?
) you get Chim. (or Tchim!)
Which sounds crap somehow, so add a 'p' and away you go.
Incidentally, the correct pronunciation (and I don asbestos as I write) is Kai-meera: see below, courtesy of www.wordsmyth.net
Which incidentally also resolves the old is it a he or a she debate - they are all bitches.
So you see, Chimp is a bit of a stretch, derivation wise, even if you are in the habit (as are many) of mispronouncing the name. And there is no way you could argue Chimp as a derivation of Kai-meera, unless you are MadCop.
So .....
can't wait to get my Kai back from Peninsula!
(That better Manek?)
