I have always called it Chimaera pronounced as in chips..... saw a clip of Peter Wheeler in the early 90's and he said Kimaera as in kite.........what do we think?? I have to assume that the revered Peter has it right and I have got it wrong??

Ky-meer-a

As per PW. His design, he must be right!

Which makes those who persist in calling them chimps even more wrong - Ky-mps!!!

This follows the naming convention chosen by TVR:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chimera_(mythology)

Greek mythology basically....

Chimera - offspring of Typhon and sibling to Cerberus (both TVR models)

According to Wikipedia

The Chimera (also Chimaera or Chimæra) ( /kɨˈmɪərə/ or /kaɪˈmɪərə/; Greek: Χίμαιρα, Khimaira, from χίμαρος, khimaros, "she-goat") was, according to Greek mythology, a monstrous female creature, composed of the parts of three animals: a lion, a serpent and a goat. Usually depicted as a lion, with the head of a goat arising from its back, and a tail that ended in a snakes's head,[1] the Chimera was one of the offspring of Typhon and Echidna and a sibling of such monsters as Cerberus and the Lernaean Hydra. The term chimera has also come to describe any mythical or fictional animal with parts taken from various animals.

Homer's brief description is the earliest surviving literary reference: "a thing of immortal make, not human, lion-fronted and snake behind, a goat in the middle

So basically ugly and not one thing or the other .......................sounds about right scratchchin
