Mine had been bodged up in the past with alli plates which over time had started to suffer from fatigue and allowed the captive nuts to work loose.
To repair I had to take a hole saw to the inside of the bonnet and re- glass them in properly. A bit of a fiddly job but its lasted 2 years so far

When I do this repair I weld a piece of studding into each end of a steel tube.
Remove the original captive fixings (which have now broken free). Make access holes in the box section and fit the tube so the stud sticks out each side. The tube can then be bonded into place. Make and fit a cover for the access holes.
