Started the car up, started first time, which is good. I have coolant dripping off the sump from somewhere.

As for my lovely manifolds, they smoked like an old stick and bubbled within minutes. I guess that's an unparalleled 'thumbs down' from me for POR20 furious

Need to find that coolant leak now.

You should have seen mine after they were treated with a "heat resistant" finish!

Alex, I allow you to post the video smile

Sorry to hear that Chris, I've used POR20 and it's been great.

But I guess that was on cast iron exhaust manifolds scratchchin

That's a shame, it will probably be a nightmare to get off as well. It looked so good as well! Hope you get it sorted.

Its a bit of a disappointment. I've sanded the bubbles now and will vac the dust out. I've spent a lot of time cleaning the engine bay and doing a little detailing, so wasn't expecting this. In perspective though, it isn't the end of the world. I'll take them off later in the year and heat wrap or sand blast them. At the end of the day, they looked pants to begin with, but just look like flaky silver pants now! The only way round it is to purchase ACT stainless manifolds, but I think I'll give those a miss! Still a waste of jeffing hard earned money and time.

Same here, a real waste of time.

Lucky I broke 2 pistons at a drag meeting so the engine came out and my manifolds were blasted foc with a full refund for the coating!

Hmmm... I'd rather not break two pistons yikes that is bad news! Great garage. I'd like one like that. I'm particularly impressed with the five crates of beer stacked behind the hoist! yum Oh and the fact that you're lifting your engine out...

I took your old y-piece to the welders this morning too. I can't wait t get it back. The car pops on only when I rev it a little now the pre-cats are out. It should be a beast without the main cat!

Off topic but what have you got wrapped around your inlet pipe? I've got the ACT smooth bore to go on mine but want to wrap it before it goes on.

I have the ACT smoothbore pipe too. I purchased two lots of heat shield off Ebay and wrapped it before putting it on. I had enough to do the inside wings, all the intake and still have some left over! I didn't bother with the ACT heat shield. I used a foil tape from Homebase for £4.99 to stick it down. It's a bit of a pain, but a sharp Stanley knife and scissors will help. The smoothbore kit is a PIA to put on, so check it for fit before you do the heat shield. HTH.

Sorry to here about the POR20 not working for you. They are a poor grade of stainless on miy manifolds thats why they have rusted in the first place, my paint has stayed on for the time being. I sandblasted the manifolds clean, then we applied the paint, 3 coats. I had my own problems with another so called hi temp paint I used previous and that peeled straight away, stank the workshop out smile.

Very helpful, thanks thumbup

I have heard that the smooth bore is a a pain. I will be following that thread from a while ago and doing lots of checking and trial fitting. It'll be my first bit of solo spannering on her, followed by the dash. Rather excited smile

A local firm that did powder coating.

They claimed they had done loads of bike headers but the finish lasted seconds before shrivelling up and melting!
