Took the Chim to TopCats on Thursday. Used them a few times before and have never failed to be anything other than excellent and very friendly. Brian the engineer will go out of his way to fix a problem for you.

So they've decided to try and fix my manifold rather than replace it. The hole is right inbetween where the 4 pipes meet. Brian said, if I don't mind could he experiment on mine and see if they can be repaired rather than replaced (at about £400 each I said by all means!!). Involves cutting the manifold in half near where the 4 pipes meet and welding it from the inside then re-welding it back together.

Also I said, while he's in there could he take out the pre-cats on both manifolds, which is apparently a bugger of a job cause they're made of titaium or something. So the motor should be roaring when I get her back, not that she didn't anyway!!

Other work being done includes,

- injectors taken out and cleaned at local Lucas place, comes back with flow rate charts etc.

- suspension being sorted out, kept bottoming out on 1 side, also very squeeky!

- slight leak in water system (crack in expansion tank)

- Full 12k service

- heat shielding on bonnet stuck back on!

Can't wait to get her back. After that it's a trip back to the bodyshop where I had the lights done and get them to do a proper job this time!! Should be mint by spring!!

Hi Dan, how is it now? All complete?

Thought I would reciprocate with a response to yours! Looks like "ol' Manek's" car is still looking good and being treated well.

Maybe if we'd known this was from Dannyboyo we would have read it and responded

Cheers dodger

I did change my name a little slyly!

Should be getting her back tomorrow morning, maybe friday.

Spoke to Warren and he said that both manifolds has cracks in them and they have managed to repair both sucessfully. And also remove the pre-cats too!

Also new discs and pads, suspension sorted, engine tinkered, injectors cleaned and so on... can't wait!!

Sounds like they have done a huge amount of work to the car, basically I just gave it to them with a list of niggles and said that anything else they come across sort out too.

Just taken mine to top cats to:_
Exhaust manifold welded, full service, injectors ultrasonically cleaned (one required replacing), new front discs and pads, MOT, Diff rebuilt, new exhaust mountings, how much do you think it is going to cost?

approx £1600 I thought it was going to be a lot more than that, well happy

Colin - is a picture or something missing there?

So you are keeping the Silver Rocket - Good man.

New Front discs? How hard have you been driving it with those 285mm ones
