Just got home and thought I'd move Biddie....this time nothing at all from the battery so could'nt get in....tried the usual way....mines been buggered at some point...so D/R and corkscrew end and I'm in....say no more about that.
New battery....thinking 072 from halfrauds..at least theres a decent guarantee. Any other suggestions for quick pick up around essex?
Cheers.

Tayna do a good range with 4 year warranty, and generally next day delivery - usually more competetive than halfrauds as well.

Hmm maybe not such a bright idea then.
It was a Varta in there but to be fair its been pretty good up until recently and it was used on my previous S so undersized!
As the Varta is fubar I tried on the off chance the bosch that I still had in the garage that was on biddie previously, which I thought was fubar...if that makes sense
I gave it a bit of a charge and its showing 90% and good on my charger...from (halfrauds)
Couldn't get the thing to charge at all before
anyway I'm still going to order another one.
I'm in Brentwood by the way.
Cheers.

I was going to suggest Anglian batteries in southend but it's a bit far,
With a really flat battery and an ingtelligent charger, you sometimes have to trick the charger into thinking there is a battery there. It won't charge otherwise.
Connect up the charger ready, then also connect a good battery from another car by jump leads to the dead battery. Plug in the charger. The charger will see the current from the dead battery and start work. Then disconnect the jump leads (either end!).

Got to be honest ive had vartas on most cars ive owned and never had a problem, thats why i tend to stick with them.It was a Varta in there but to be fair its been pretty good up until recently and it was used on my previous S so undersized!

Currently there is a banner battery in my chim that the previous owner fitted.
The original Porsche battery in my Boxster lasted 9 years until I accidentally killed it by forgetting to attach the trickle charger - it turns out that three weeks would have been fine but four was not.
Aye well. I put a hellfrauds one in: which lasted five years until it conked with no warning whilst I was on vacation last week. PITA but there's a Varta in there now...

I've ordered a Varta 072 from Tayna now as Paul suggested, if I can get the others sorted I may have a back in an emergency.
Thanks for the help fellas.
As has been said, when you start getting flat battery, dead battery and non-starting problems, it is amazing how often the simple fix is a new battery. No faffing about trying different fixes, always suspect the battery first.
Do be aware that this can even happen with a very recent battery - I had three Exides fail shortly after purchase a year or so ago (we have six cars in the family, so plenty of batteries to fail). Each time my first move was to take the battery back to Allwoods (local autospares indie chain) so that they could test it with their battery tester. Each time they pronounced it dead and swapped it without fuss.
Latterly they swapped them for Oldhams batteries instead, and I have had no further issues. Nothing against Exides, I have had lots of good ones over the years, just a bad batch I guess.
So my motto now is "always suspect the battery first and get it tested". It saves so much time chasing imaginary faults and getting frustrated on Monday mornings.
I also invested in one of these, which I carry around in any car that is having problems. It also pumps up flat tyres when you come out of work to rubber frustration.

Mine wasn't that one, Maplins no longer stock the one I bought, but you get my drift. Remember to charge it regularly though.
It is also useful for adjusting tyre pressures at track days when there isn't any power available. Foot pumps are so passe, my dear.
