Have read threads in the past where the track guys have fitted an air dam to improve cooling and a reduction in under bonnet pressures, thought I'd try my version. Others have used alloy strips and some have used guttering cut down as a cheap and cheerful solution. Mine cost less than £15 in total.

I used the air dam from a Ford Focus

The 2 front facing locating lugs are easily cut off as this is made of soft plastic. Then the 3 mounting holes are cut down so the dam fits flush to the body.

Once lined up and marked, I drilled the holes using a 12.5mm bit then tapped the red plastic fitting plugs into the bodywork.

The finished article.

In all took about 10 mins to put the car on stands then 15 minutes to fit the air dam. Does it work? confused
I have absolutely no idea but it gave me something to do rolleyes

Posh bugger. biggrin

Yeah but the advantage of buying a 2m length of guttering is you have spares hehe

I find it hard to detect any difference driving on the roads but I noticed it on track, wayward sort of feel on the front, not quite so direct steering (feel) and the front seemed to lift over 120 mph without it but it's a very subtle thing.
I've had one on/off a few times and driven the car for thousands of miles either way, it's hardly an F1 wing but I prefer mine with it on. smile

In your case Iain you've added a barn door! That's like an upside down Gaurney "flap"
Far more drag than standard with the 90 degree angle your using scratchchin

Nice work sir!!...have you got the part numbers to share?

I was going to fork out on the expensive bit of TVR tin but I like that Ford "adaption" better!

The part number is AM51-R001A06-AB. Code is 1688730

It is actually called the Roof Air Deflector and is listed for the C-Max mk2 and C-Max mk3 as well as fitting below the radiator on a Focus.

The 3 screws and plugs are the ones used to hold the engine undertray on most Fords. wink

The three plugs idea is a good one.
I'm imagining different angled splitters for different down force settings for different roads smile

With the immense power of Turbo I'm sure this is the last thing on your mind or will make much difference but your abrupt angle may lead to something,,, I just don't know what.
I seem to remember the feeling the brakes lock momentarily earlier without it but that's just a hunch.

That's the problem with these forced induction engines, mine does over 30 to a gallon and still rips. hehe

You might spend a few quid Iain but at least you use the stuff you buy hehe
