modwise warm start kit

It eliminates the warm start problem, whereby the engine bay is so warm that the resistance of the wire to the starter motor is increased to a point where there isn't enough current available to turn the engine over.
It basically uses the original starter cable to switch a relay, which itself is connected directly to the battery - ensuring that the starter motor gets a nice, clean supply.
Its not a problem I've had, so I've installed it as a precaution, but many other RV8 owners have suffered from not being able to start the car once the engine bay is warm.

Will have to have a look at it in the flesh sometime,as I do on occaision suffer the hot start problem. It is embarrasing bump starting from the petrol station. I always thought the problem was caused by the heat acting on the starter directly and causingt he solenoid to stick. Hence some suggestions about lagging the starter.

I fitted the wiring mod to the existing wiring loom in the passenger footwell on my Chim 500..took me about 10 mins to do and never had the problem since. This might be OK for Griff owners..but best let David Beer comment on this.
I had some pics of the wiring mod in the passenger footwell, will try and dig them out.

I would fit the kit in the passenger footwell if at all possible. Don't fancy having all those connections exposed to the elements.
After dozens of embarrassing moments I eventually fitted this kit and have not had one hot start problem since.
Very highly recommended!
