Stepper Motor Cleaning

'tis a good example, good pictures etc but misses one thing, it has been said before that the stepper motor should not be over tightened when re-fitting but does not mention how tight it should be re-fitted, should it for instance be hand tighten then half a turn with adjustable spanner etc etc.
This is the ONE reason why i have not yet checked the stepper motor on my Chim.

You "know" when its tight enough, trust me.....just dont overdue it (and me not tech. minded btw!)
I did this job this very morning on my Rangie, after it flooded it's plugs and refused to restart when the idle control failed. 
I left it for an hour, restarted it, reversed, went to change gear, and it died again. The battery was starting to fade.
So I removed a couple of plugs, cleaned and gapped them, got her started again and moved her back round to my parking spot where I could continue the plug cleaning job away from the traffic. Then a plug lead disintegrated as I pulled the cap off a plug.
So I thought, ok, I'll drive up to the motor factors on 7 cylinders and get another lead. Set off, and just round the corner it coughed out, threw the ECU into a wierd mode, and switched it's Aircon fan on for no reason.
I've left it where it is for the night.
I left it for an hour, restarted it, reversed, went to change gear, and it died again. The battery was starting to fade.

Thought you posted it here? As I don't have the Wedge forum set as a favourite, But I do remember giving it a sticky when I read it!

because of the fact its not an easy place to get a spanner to I rarely tightened mine more than with my hands. it never came loose......
at the end of the day, its plugged in so you wont lose it if it came out. ie - dont worry about tightening it too much.

I posted it in a bit of a rush before leaving work yesterday, so it's a good job it didn't end up on the Powerlifting forum I'm on sometimes

at the end of the day, its plugged in so you wont lose it if it came out. ie - dont worry about tightening it too much.
