Last Stage of Tuning all done, up 11bhp & 30lb/ft
Discussion
Had the New manifolds tested and the new Trumpet base installed.
Trumpets gave a whopping 10bhp and 11ft/lbs, works out to a puny £25 quid a horse / ft/lb defo one of the easiest, rewarding mods to do, looking at half an hour fitting time, if that (less for a pro) and there you go, car is up on both power AND torque ALL OVER the range (Will try and scan the dyno sheets in)
The manifolds, gave a few ft/lbs, smoothing out the old line, but made the car sound like an EVIL NASCAR RACER... the noise before, with just the TVR sports exhaust, was a boomy, WIDE (only way to describe it), lazy noise, it was all encompassing, and fuzzy.
NOW, its raspy, mean, focussed, rippley... (sounds like i am describing icecream ;P)

Got a new set of Leads on whilst she was in
/me off to drive her like she was built to be driven!
Thnx Tim and Mark and the chaps at Power Engineering
Started at 252bhp / 253 lb/ft
Ended at 263bhp / 283 lb/ft

Try V8 developments they are on the net and in Sprint and they are brilliant. Had uprated cam and induction fitted plus of course Mark Adams chip now the car goes like a rocket and sounds like Schuey when the lights change--reckon the figures must be (almost) what the manufacturers claim. Don't bother with carbon fibre induction kits unless you are going for a double or triple throttle--they look nice but the bhp difference is about a handful if that and ,being plastic, they will probably split somewhere down the line. V8 work with Tim.
Clint, I recently had an ACT twin-throttle carbon induction system fitted to my Griff 500 and the increase was 16 bhp and 10 lbs ft torque. But... what was significant was that the torque remained solid right up to 6,000 revs whereas before it dropped away after about 4,800 - 5,000 The result is significantly noticable especially when previously I'd have been thinking about changing-up a gear. Rich...

The Carbon plenums are alot stronger than you think, I'll have to show you the 5lb club hammer test .The resin system used will last indefinitely, and cope with 150 degrees C,
Been making them since 1996 the first 3 were wet-lay carbon and caused problems but i think these have all been removed now.
The carbon induction will only work with a chip & remap in which case you will see more power without not much difference.
I agree V8 developments are very good, and we have a good working relationship, but a lot of the people here like Jamie don't want to touch a healthy engine, just prefer to settle for moderate gains, if you want 40+ bhp gains, engine work is the only way to go.
Cheers Tim.

Yes Rich, i think the bigger the engine the better the result,
Tim

All I am saying Rich is that if you had the identical setup in alloy I would challenge you to detect the difference in performance. Mind you the carbon jobs look really nice but I have had my humble single 73mm throttle plenum chrome-plated and together with the rocker covers its looks the bees knees--and it works!

those vids arent the ones in question, those are AAAAAAAAAges old
the one that was WITH sound and WITH cats but WITH sports Zorst and MA Tornado Chip is
This one HERE..10mb!!
Fair comment, it's a matter of choice I guess. You got any pics' of your engine bay with all the chrome plated stuff, can you post them here - be good to see it! Rich...

Yes it is a fair comment, except that there isn't an equivalent alloy system available, the only alloy twin , wide body plenum available is from group A racing from mid eighties, & rare as rocking horse 5hit, If you attach a twin throttle to the side of a standard plenum it won't breath as well as the width of the plenum is part of the trick, and the air-box is also an important part. There is a tripple alloy available but same price.
The main benefit is the shape & configuration, more than material, with the carbon plenums we achieve better internal shape.
sorry i'm starting to "waffle on" a bit, just feel the need to answer this, as i did with the idea that carbon plenums will split with age .
Cheers Tim
