B****Y INDICATORS!!!!

I was driving the Chim yesteday when I was stopped by the BiB, and advised that my front indicator (drivers side) had come away and had dropped into the bodywork!
This is one of the famous 'needs to be re-bonded/stuck' parts! rather than screw fixings etc like most other cars!
I tried yesterday with silicone adhesive but to no avail, as is really awkward to get to and hold in place; so dropped in to my friendly local specialist this morning and asked if they could fix it!

Any 'innovative souls' on PistonHeads who could develop some sort of 'bracket' or 'clips' to hold these things in place (so they are easier to remove/replace) I reckon you would sell a load of them!! Anyone come up with any 'improvements'???

N.B:
Mine is the later model Chim with the 'split' radiator grille as opposed to the single large grille which I understand has mounting pieces in the grille itself.

When my nearside indicator had an incident with a pheasant I stuck it back in with black mastic. I held it in place with a bit of wire through the indicator mounting and a bungie attached to the garage door whilst it dried. Worked a treat

Morning CERBY..... I found that supa glue gives an instant fix and then external use "no more nails" has done trhe job since.... Just get as much onto the back of the lamp as you can once its in.... Usable within about 3hrs... I keep some brush on supa glue in the car since mine fell out on the way to a night meeting.!!! Steve.

I used two part epoxy adhesive to bond mine back in. Sticks like the preverbial brown stuff. The other bonus is that it cures in about 5 mins

To hold the indicator in place while the glue's drying, use gaffer tape to tape piece of string to the lense - preferably in the middle of the string so you can pull the indicator up against the bodywork with the string in a 'V' shape. Then tie the string taught while the glue sets.

Ah, one of the pleasures of an "original" car. Fond memories of sikaflexing Sherman tank indicators back into a mesh grille - those were the days.

Not!

One day those indicators will be cherished collectors items, look after them, and make sure you use original sikaflex, you don't want to go devaluing your pride and joy!
