Hi folks,

Once again the car has been for a whacking great service. Once again it has lovely new disks and pads all round a new set of tyres and all the usual things done. Smashing.

Sadly now though - and its been difficult lately to test this - the car hesitates further up the rev range - around 4krpm I think.

Now I haven't really had the chance of a dry, warm road with enough grip to really explore this - being able to sustain high revs whilst actually moving ain't so easy at this time of year...but I'm hoping to get out this weekend and check it out.

I don't remember the problem prior to the service.

So, my experienced TVR bretheren, I know its a chestnut and I have done a search, somewhat inconclusively, but what should I be checking out...

I'm no mechanic but I can shove home HT leads with the best of them...

On the HT side, make sure you have a healthy Spark Amplifier, Coil (Bosch recommended) and set of HT leads. All of these are consumables thanks to the under bonnet temps. Note that the plate to which the Spark Amp bolts is an earth as well as a heat sink for it.

HTH,

Steve.

Thanks! I'm just a little suspicious that this has started *since* the service. I hope its just something "loose"...but...

If it's just come back from a service and you aren't completely happy with it, I think your first port of call should be the people who serviced it, not PistonHeads. I'd expect them to take the time to discuss the symptoms over the phone, and if you take it back I think most places would investigate the problem as a goodwill gesture since they have just worked on the car.

Well worth checking that all the plug caps are pressed firmly home.

You know, mate. I've just been out in the Company car park this lunchtime and given it the once over. Three HT leads were literally hanging off.

Not a happy bunny. But that I can fix (and have). Test drive this evening on the way home...

You are absolutely right, sir. And should I have *not* just sorted it out I will be doing exactly as you suggest.

I'm obviously far too late to the party to contribute, but my first thought was HT leads as well since I had the same symptoms which were cured with new HT leads.

Well. I jammed 'em all on hard...

...and went for a "burn up".

Rock and Roll. All's well.
