NU is laughable
Tescos is nearly 2k
Peart (on unlimited - which is limited to 15k miles) and they are in the process of changing insurers so its not a valid quote is £1200
First Alternative:1500


Sooooo any others that I can try..? as this is getting depressing.

Hi Claire, You could try A-plan. Their details are on a sticky on the TVR general forum. Just in the process of getting a quote from them myself. I've already had a good quote from Heritage 0845 811 8118. Worth a try.

It cost the misses 30 odd quid to join the TVRCC, but she saved £200 odd off the insurance bill IIRC...

Dosent matter that its a secure, underground, keypad entry, rollerdoor car park - its still Manchester.

Other issue is the Chim being my everyday car - I need 12K plus milage (pref unlimited).

I tried a quote on a Tuscan and it was cheaper..! why would that be..?

I'm in a similar position, although Essex based, not Manchester. Regardless of insurer, I got not discount from it living outside compared with the underground carpark with secure entry and CCTV..

Claire, have a chat to the broker and ask them what sort of things make a difference. Being in a car club (any seems to do) can bring it down, and for my daily driver, I found that paying £80 per year union dues reduced my insurance bill by £250.

Why not try asking Mannings to run your details through the computer and see if it would pay you to join the TVRCC? I think you have to have had a performance car for at least one (or was it 2?) years too, but you're ok on that score aren't you?

I am awaiting a call back from Podie contact. I have had Miss D for a year but always played in TVR's due to the parents (I learnt to drive in them) but that doesnt count apparently.

TBH I am not too keen on the TVRCC - From the couple of meets I have been to in the NW - well tehy are the rudest bunch of ppl (and I can be quite rude) I have ever met (apart from Howard) so dont particularly want to be associated with them.

if I cant get anywhere with Sunninghill - looks like its going to be direct line.

Claire, two thoughts, one, join TVRCC if that helps, £30 odd quid for 12magazines through the post is all it needs to be, I only re-joined because its a prerequisite for the race series,

Also, can you not arrange something through Ian, commercial fleet insurance sort of thing?

Try Classic Line on 01455 639000 - they cover both my cars & are very reasonable.

I live in Greater London & do about 8k miles a year - I pay about £695 for a Griff 500 - mind you I am incredibly old but at least I have my good looks to fall back on

Ive just got a call off A plan with my quote and they have knocked near £200 off my renewal.

Was £907 from Quote me happy

Now £739 from A plan

26 years old.
1994 5 litre Chimaera.
1 SP60 in 2004.
£350 excess which is £200 less than old policy
£50 windscreen which is £10 less.

I think they are worth a try for you guys. There is a sticky at the top of the Chimaera page or phone them on 01635874646.

I am down to a choice of Sunninghill or APlan.

APlan were cheaper by £30 and had included Class 1 Business Use.

Both are unlimited milage as well wich is a bonus.
