Servicing near Guildford, Surrey

Any suggestions of where to get the MOT and Service done on my Chim around Guildford in Surrey? If there are no great places with sensible price's locally I will travel so if anybody knows of great places to go in surrey or surrounding areas, please let me know.

Racing Green Cars at Ash Vale (just off the A331) is your nearest main TVR dealership. I work on the Jaguar side of the house but you night like to call Martin Slade who runs the TVR servicing division. He is very experienced and a really nice guy. Why not give him a call on 01252 544 888 or pop in tomorrow and have a chat ?

I've just been quoted £615 (includes VAT and parts) for a 12k service on my Griff 500 at David Batty's garage. A bit more than I was expecting, more like a main dealer's price.

Sounds pricey. Try APM near Liphook, very reasonable prices and excellent service.

I will say this once and once only.........
APM are as good as it gets. As far as I am aware APMs hrly rate is some 30% less than David Batty (happy to be corrected!). I havent used David and so I cant comment on his work etc - I drive past his place everyday and it is very busy with TVRs and Lotuses. , so clearly a good customer base. I go to Andy nr Liphook as he hits the spot on experience, knowledge, skill, value, customer service, friendlyness, flexibility etc.... Doesnt provide coffee though! Ring the factory and ask the engine builders about Andy!! Andy helps run Tuscan challenge cars and was also the No 1 mechanic and SHG TVR dealer for many yrs.

Dave has recently hiked his prices enormously and has been forced to stop using the road outside his premises for customers' cars meaning he can't have as many cars 'on the go' as before. I suspect the two could be linked.

Actually, now I come to think of it, the concept of a 'quote' from Dave is a fairly new addition too.

(This is not in any way negative comment on Dave - check my profile to see that I have been a regular customer for many years and many vehicles)

If you are willing to travel a bit try Austec. www.austec.co.uk/servicing.htm. I think they are quoting £425 +vat for a 12000 mile service. There address is

Bit of a hike but if you do a search on here for austec you will find a lot of praise for them.

Fernhurst are £505 incl VAT. Probably the best combination of price and service in your vacinity. (can't speak for Racing Green but have heard very good things, but being a main dealer I would be surprised if the price will be the same)

I noticed that he had started to park all the cars off the road. He has a cerb with the window taped up that has been there for 1 month or more.
But how many cars can a small indie want on the go anyway? Surely 4 or 5 is the max before you start being unable to get them fixed/serviced quick enough (but thats the price you pay for being so good?!)?
