Stitching on soft top roof problem HELP!!!

I have Chimera with a relatively new top on but the stitching has come away at the back and needs redoing. Does anyone know of any companies that provide this service as I am really struggling to find any one

Your main problem is getting the hood off the car - can be very tricky.
Once you've got the hood off then any upholsterer or ship's chandler will machine stitch the window - Yellow Pages.

I'd recommend KRJ trimmers and upholsters in Middlewich, Cheshire. They used to work for Martrim limited and following redundancy decided to setup for themselves. how much has gone?

I had a scary moment last year when I put the top down and there was a tearing sound as the stiching went in one spot.

it was a bit of a pain but i managed to re-stitch it by hand without any problems. the fix is just about visible because of a slight mis-match in the thread colour (slightly wrong shade of grey) but only if you know what you're looking for.

I wouldn't want to do a lot, it's tricky sewing with a pair of pliers but for a small fix it might well be something you can do yourself

If you go to the sail makers and get the black yarn they use for making spray hoods it is very strong and a half moon needle (easier to thread when hood in situ ) which is made out of stainless steel , also strong .With a eye for detail you can see the original stitching holes and thread through them. Did mine this way , you can hardly tell and i am one fussy git.
