Put my Chimaera away 2 weeks ago. Battery on float charge. Today for the first time in 5 years she won't start.

Engine cranks, but there's no noise from the fuel pump. Have tried swapping these 2 relays over but still no joy

Multimeter across the pump terminals shows 0.2volts when cranking, regardless of which relay is where.

Relay problem or immobiliser woes?

Any suggestions welcome

Whilst you're all giving this quandry your best efforts, I'll nip out and bag acouple of new relays.

40 mile round trip, the sun's shining and no Chim to go in.

irked Bugger!!

Hopefully it will just be 2 new relays reqd as far as I know the immobiliser kills both the pump and starter so the car shouldn't turn over. I had this problem a couple of weeks ago, although they knacked whilst driving ,new relays fitted and all ok again. Good luck

Relays are about £6 each

Stick twelve volts on the pump by a fused wire straight from the battery, if it starts then you know it is 'just' a problem somewhere in the fuel pump power supply. If not, you can immediately rule all that out and look for a fault in the switched ignition circuit, immobiliser etc.

Well boys it's good news. 2 new relays did the job and change from 12quid. Wonder why these are such a common failure on these cars? It's not like they're sited in a particularly hostile environment

Hardest part of the job was heaving my bulbous frame far enough under her to get the multimeter on the fuel pump.

Nice to be back on the road - shame the sun's gone in though irked

(Note to self - buy some spare relays next time your in Preston)

Ooooohhh, this thread is good timing. Just unraveled myself from passenger footwell, hoping dead heater blower was just a fuse, of course it wasn't, but at least I now have a working cigarette lighter for warmth. Anyway while i was there cleaned up all connections on Relays etc .Believed the 2 relays in the loom were the same and obviously swapped them around refitting. No fuel pump and buzzing from relay, swapped back, and alls well again.
So if these 2 are the same, one must be dodgy, so what exactly does the other one do???

Couldn't quite make out the part no.s of the relays on the photos you posted anyone got better eyes than me, or know the relay P/N's

Searched for this, which is why it got dragged up again.

The Bosch part number is actually 0332014112. If you look closely on the picture you can see it fairly clearly.

£5.86 inclusive of VAT from Bosch distributors. The Landrover dealers want £27.85+VAT!

Make sure you use the correct relays as there are diodes in them that stop feed back.
