Ive just had by matrix bypassed by joing the pipes together because it started leaking! (£75 parts and 7 hours labour to fix!). Is this safe as it is or will it cause more problems? I dont need a heater as the engine does the job more than is needed!

Nothing wrong with my matrix but would do it in an effort to reduce cabin temperatures a little. The only problem is I use the heater to help cool the engine if I am stuck in a long traffic jam. I cannot imagine ever needing a heater in a Chim.

You may find demisting in the winter a bit of a problem. Bypassing the matrix is nothing new. Mnay of the Wedges had a special valve to turn off the heater completely under the bonnet for summer and winter running.

It will reduce the cooling capability as the heater can dissapate a lot of heat so might be worth keeping a special eye out initially.
