Does anyone know anything about standard camshaft specs? I ordered one over the phone from TVR Power for my 1999 Chimaera 450.

Their website shows just one camshaft as being applicable to all model variants...and call it an '885 spec':

http://store.tvrpower.co.uk/?t=si&item=420

This is obviously what I've received, as the cam has "TVR 88507 0508 DF07" stamped into it. However, the one that I have removed has " KC TVR 435RM 11 6 11 932X 8065". Is it different?!

Thanks

Yes, I did.....they were a bit vague! When I mentioned Spec 885 he initially siad "oh, for the 5.0", but then when I said that's what I had received for the 450 he revised this slightly and said that they fitted this cam as standard to 4.3, 4.5 and 5.0 (as per their website), and had done for as long as he'd been there (a couple of years). I'd assumed the 5.0 cam would be different (lumpier?) but perhaps not....

I had an 885 fitted to my 500. Seems this is TVR Power's favoured cam nowadays and I don't have any complaints - good drivability and power plus excellent torque. Then again I wanted exactly that - others want may want something a little more potent. I get the impression that this is a development step from previous cams used by TVR.

RV8 cams are very confusing, so I don't bother working it all out. All I do is pick up teh phone and call V8Developments, speak to "Rob" Robertson and tell him what you want and he will plumb the depths of his considerable knowledge on cams and come up with the right choice for you. You don't have to know anything about RV8 cams, you just need to know a man who does!

I enquired with Dom recently too at TVR Power, the 885 is teh most recent upgraded cam recommended for the 4.5/5.0.

It replaced the original 214/234 which was succeeded by the 435 as fitted to many 4.5/5.0's at the time.

No talk about a balls out hot fast road cam aimed at max bhp only, so suggest you either fit or sell it to me cheap (for my 450) and get what you want from Rob at V8D.

Taraka 30 is right.

Another 885 here. I wanted a replacement for the original (1999 450) 435. Again, driveability was most important for me and this cam is ideal.
