This is something that cropped up a couple of years back when I was playing with the car, replacing bits and bobs, the current supply of replacement front upper ball joints don't necessarily fit, its something the S series boys have found too they use the Saab derived part, they've also found that suppliers seem to change source from time to time so the QH part that did fit doesn't despite the same part number. Fit Form Function nightmare! see:
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... and
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

In the past I just cut the end of the wishbone off to allow clearance to the casting of ball joint, this time round with the rather expensive spangly wishbones, I want to do things "right". Has anyone had any recent experience of replacing the ball joints with ones that fit?
I was told yesterday Firstine part number FBJ5138 fits, or at least fitted a car that was don't about 6 weeks ago, any others becasue law of Sod dictates no local autofactors will stock Firstline?

Regards
Iain

I had a nightmare last year with this, new top wishbones and new ball joints did not fit because the wishbone was 2 mm skinnier where the wishbone fits, and the 6mm spacer did not fit. Ended up grinding 2 mm off a spacer to make it work. Hopefully things have sorted themselves out with the supply of wishbones now, as it was difficult enough getting the wishbones that were wrong back then. Interestingly the ball joint I got was identical to the original one.
