Hi, just picked up the car and it sometimes will not hold the doors closed, chimaera, you shut the door but it just opens again. Played with the interior door switch and that has helped the drivers door, but the passenger seems to have a mind of its own, any advice, is it a relay, the switch, anything else, thanks people.

Could be a faulty Actuator, Alarm sensor pin..Does it lock when pressing the closure button on the dash?

OOh, ya got me, did not know there was a dash button, when you press the button on the top of the interior knob, it actuates the lock in the door, sounds as though locking, but let it go and door opens again, it must be electrical somewhere, is it easy to get at the interior knob to have a look?

I dont know on The Chimeara. Try the door sensor that pushes in and out when the door opens closes. Sometimes if the door drops these don't operate fully and hence door pops open again. Also sometimes there is a small square sponge type thing opposite on the door so it doesn't damage it...if this drops of then the sensor doesn't operate fully also.

looks something like this

SOunds like the cable may be too tight, the open knob in the middle isnt electrical , it just pulls on a cable to pop the door open.
Lift the car right behind the B post and take a look at the mechanism. You should be able to work out which bit is the opener(will have a cable attached). May need adjusting.

Thanks BB, I realised after I posted it was not in the right place, sorry.

MMMnn, well i thought it was electric, sounded as though a relay was actuating, was drivers door, now its good, but now passenger is playing up!

I am now seeing that TVR ownership is going to a hands on affair, haha, all good fun though.

Cheers

Does the rotary door opening knob in the center console return to its center position?

Been out for a spin this morning and it going okay, got back home, went to close door and it wouldnt stay closed, still smiling though!!! Maybe just need to take some string or gaffer tape with me on long runs!!!

THis happened to my Chim on a couple of occasions

I have just sprayed the locking Mechanism with WD40 behind the door pillar . You can get to this by lifting the carpet flaps on each side.

Hope this helps
