I purchased a 98 Chim 450 a few weeks ago. It's a fabulous car, and I love driving it. However, I have noticed that once the car gets warmed up, the gear shift tends to "stick". It' isn't jammed, it is more like it is stuck with glue (if that makes any since at all). It mostly occurs in 3rd gear, although it does it in the other gears as well. If I pull harder, it will come out of gear, or if I move it around a little it will easily come out.

Has anyone else had this? Do I have reason for concern?

I get this too. Hopefully a technical person could tell us why?!

Mine did this (when hot) but since I had a new clutch (i.e. since Saturday!) it doesn't do it anymore!!

you will find that it is due to the excessive heat under the bonnet of TVRs that does it, however it is possible to fit a cooler to the transmission, you wil have to go to a motorsport specialist to get what you need and the thing sorted. this will fix the problem!

Thanks for the info. I was hoping that I didn't have something major going wrong !

This past weekend, The wife and I took the car down to Portsmouth for a day out. (Nothing exciting there.. just wanted to drive on the A roads). I noticed that the problem was a lot less prevelant when I had been driving at highway speed.

I'll just keep rolling and look into getting the transmission cooler.

I found mine eased up after they changed the gearbox oil on a 24k service. Maybe try fresh oil before anything more expensive?

The T5 box can quite often be a bit notchy. If it's too bad, get the oil changed.....can make a lot of difference.

Mine suffered a similar thing although to a much much lesser extent but changing the g/box oil made it go away completely
