Did it improve the radio reception?
Not yet Graham
Still waiting on completion of a house sale before I dare spend anymore money!
The process was quite easy
Wet and dry to scuff off the brushed look then down to 2000 grit wet and dry then used a bench polisher to buff up,,, the gear knob needs a bit more work really but it'll only scratch anyway so I'm happy with it.
It looks class not chav,,, well I think so anyway
My family are Welsh so your not that far away mate, nah, it's just a few hrs here and there really, I think the soft top struts might take sometime to do but it's such a good compliment to the car and I do it with this childish excitement at the final results, it last for Yonks with the odd buff after it's done so well worth it.
It's good to hear the cars ok,
how's the Rover, you had crank issues awhile back,

Rover's in storage ATM - made some headway on the vibration issue but not fully sorted yet.
I find I can remove the centre console without removing the "golf ball" which gives easier access to the allen headed screw.
Three screws to remove the centre console two at the front, one each side and one under the tray at the back and lift it off carefully. That remvoes the centre section IIRC.
I've been wondering if I should grease the door cables so that sounds like a good idea Alan, did yours have grease applied or just some liquid lube or nothing at all ? I find I can remove the centre console without removing the "golf ball" which gives easier access to the allen headed screw.

Cheers Al,
So I take console off, easy enough but didn't like the already rounded self tappers,,,, some people can't put a fking screw in properly,,, then Allen key is a sloppy fit in gear knob,,,,yes some crap tools man has rounded the grub screw off, nice!!!!
Not me I can promise, I could tell instantly by the feel of it,,,
So now I have little choice but drill it out, angle drill maybe but a right tight fit if at all,,,,
As soon as I lifted the rear pocket piece out and saw them screws with rounded pozi heads I feared the worst,
Years of window fixing taught me it's better to fk the rounded screw off before it's stuck fast,,,
It takes skill to put a screw in and not knacker it as you do it,,, gets me st like this,,,,,

See on here you meet chaps with skills coming out the pours of their skin, yet it's some complete wker who's got his hands on my car,, I do wonder sometimes I tell ya,,, basics for fecksake.
I'm going to struggle to get a drill down to it,I can see me going in at an angle, opening up hole and having to go larger tap size, does the grub fit into a groove on the shaft?

Never give up... ever.... Never giving up is what makes us who we are.. And it's not who we are that defines us, it's what we do...
This CabSav is bloody lovely, might have to open another one
Well we've been racing for years and still got the set up wrong on Sunday, hard shocks,, tracks soaking, brainless! This CabSav is bloody lovely, might have to open another one
I did say it was to wet in the holding area but who am I.
I've took the dog for a stroll and yeah your right mate,, never give in, a simple job made hard,,,, annoying but I've been put on this earth to sort this car out Richard.
Haha, I do go on,,, cheers Ged I was thinking on those lines, I have the corrct set of Allen keys it's just rounded off, I didn't get any purchase on the grub screw at all,,
I can't really see why the console would have been taken off in the past but someone's been at it!
I have 4 countersinc screws into a flat plate,,, work that one out?
I'm busy over the next few days but I'll update when I have chance to have another play,,,
