Can anyone tell me the part numbers for Mintex pads for the front and rear of a 1999 Griff 500. The fast road ones, not the racing ones.

And whilst you're at it, where is cheap to get them mail order? (That will deliver fast as I'm at Bedford Autodromewhatsit on Friday).

Thanks very much

Andy

1144 pads I think, as I want to use them on the road too. Am I correct in thinking the 1155 pads should only be used on the track?

The Mintex site lists the rear pads as MDB1287 - but does not list anything for the fronts....

Does MDB1175 sound right for the fronts? Escort Mk III apparently.

The rears are MDB1287 - Escort Cosworth.

Apparently the rears also fit one of the Ferraris....

Thanks Steve - will do.

My local dealer was no help and TVR themselves will not help. They only stock the standard parts and will not tell me what car the front brakes are from (apparently this information has been removed from their system now). They said that they used to give this information out but people used it to buy cheap, inferior quality parts and then complained to TVR when they failed.

Ho hum...

Demon Tweeks weren't much help either. Telling them its a 1999 Griff 500 is no good - they want to know which type of Ford the brakes are from.

They also told me that Mintex don't do a 1290 part number - which is all a bit confusing.

He did say that if I took the pad off, drew round it and faxed it to him he could match it...

He also recommended 1155 compound on the front and 1144 on the rear, saying that 1155 now works well from cold. Anyone (Steve?) used this combination?

Yes - saw that after going back and looking on the Mintex website - the Demon chap was talking out of his exhaust manifold on that one!

1144 pads are fast road and therefore should be ok from cold.

1155 are track or racing pads and I had always thought needed to be warmed up a bit to be effective.

I can't even be sure I know enough to buy the one set up, let alone two!!

Obviously I need to get my wheels off and have a look what's on there!

Thanks guys

OK - the correct Mintex pads for my 1999 Griff were:

Front: MDB1290AF

Rear: MDB1287AF

Fitting is very easy with the caliper wind back tool (£20 from some Halfords). Although don't do what I did which was forget to let the handbrake off before winding them back!)
