The plan was to save up a bit 'till next year and then buy a Cerbera, but I'm concerned that I will over stretch myself financially. So I’m now looking at Chimeras.
I’ve spotted one for sale on PH that I’m going to enquire about. Having never even sat in a chim, can someone suggest what are the main things to look for and also, can someone recommend a good person to inspect the car before I hand over my hard earned cash ?. I live in North Yorks btw.

Thanks, Tony.

You'll be needing the Lone Ranger then, Tonto.

or more likely the Loan Arranger.

Nice one jigs.

chimburt, I did a search but couldn't find anything relating to inspections in the North Yorks area.

Will someone like Rob Ingelby or Jools be able to sort out an inspection way ooop north ?

Hi Tonto,

before you even go out looking at cars for sale, get along to a local TVRCC meet or similar and chat to the owners etc.. As you've never sat in a Chimaera (and I believe never owned a TVR?) there's an awful lot more to these cars than "looks nice, goes fast".. its a bit more like a complex love affair with a gorgeous yet high maintenance woman.

Cheers
Matt.

Where do I sign for her ?

Thanks for the info all. I'm off to the local TVR dealer to arrange a test drive now, (its all of 150 metres away !). I certainly plan to join the local TVRCC though.

Hi Mod500,
You are right, its HHC in Harrogate. Its a right pain living so close. I have to drool on a daily basis as I drive past . Have arranged a test drive on Friday (weather permitting). I think I remember seeing your car, but to be honest, at the time, I was only just starting to look at TVR's and I was looking for a Cerbera. Did they have the red R reg 4.2 when you got your chim ? I had a spin out in that. Great drive, but the car was a bit tatty. Talking of spins, the chap I was talking to today at HHC told me that someone took a 350C out for a test drive recently in the rain, got to the roundabout at the bottom of the hill and whilst selecting his exit road mashed his size nine into the shag pile ! Result... instant 360 spin . Luckily, he didn't hit anything.
BTW, thanks for the offer of a trip in your Chimera. I might take you up on that.

Well, things have moved on a bit....
Just back from a test drive at HHC.
Took out a 99 4.0 for a spin. Have to say I was a bit disapointed. Exhaust was too loud, ride was too firm, steering a bit too responsive for my liking.
So thats that really, no more to say on the subject.

Nice talking to you lot.

Sorry it didn't work out

Regards,

Tony.

Slightly more sensible post ....

I've asked Rob for a 97 or later, Red/Blue/Green (not all 3 at once !!) 4.0 or 4.5 with PAS.

He's just inspected a silver '97 4.5 with PAS. Its not my ideal colour, but just had a test drive in a silver one and I'm warming to it !

I'm confused. First you tried one and felt that TVR is not for you. Now you're thinking about it again!

Thanks PK1990. I've (well Rob Ingleby has) found a Silver 4.5 Chim for me. I've had a drive and decided to buy it !
There are a few complications to sort out, but hopefully, I'll be picking it up on Friday

Just got to sort out the insurance now.

Insurance sorted

Nearly 200 squid less than my 1.8 Honda

Ok, it was an Integra Type R, but even so, 1.8 v 4.5

One advantage of being old(er) I guess.
