looking at buying a chimera that needs a full respray, so thought that it would be good time to upgrade to the tuscan style headlights, just woundering how much the kit is, and is it a main dealer item only
thanks

I'd only consider this if you were definitely going to keep the car a while. Not everyone likes this conversion, so you would be narrowing your potential customer base come resale time.

To find out the info you're looking for, type the words 'headlamp conversion' into the PH search tool and search the Chimaera forum for all dates. You'll find a plethora of info on the subject

to balance the discussion a little, i am in the market for a Chim at the moment and i am only really interested in a light converted car, Horses for courses really, i think the original lights look cheap (like the original wheels)

Hi Blaine
I bought mine the TVR Bodyshop (not related to TVR)
The kit off memory was 500 to 600 UKP.
If you don't get them to fit the kit,its imperative to use a GRP specialist to avoid a nasty graft and possible shrinkage.
Ive only had good comments since having them fitted, but I guess we don't live in and old fart traditionalist society down here..

Looks like a good job..
Personally though with the modern front i think you need bigger rims now... Like the Tuscan i guess!

i saw a Chim with 18's and that looked very smart..
The Chim has 16's atleast on the rear as standard anyway

I like the ride and don't want to disturb the car too much, the 18" are way too big. If you could get a 17" Spider I would have a pair of those on the rear but you don't.

The thing is that the bigger the wheel the weedier the brakes will look also! Over all with origninal brakes it will make the car look tary and will take away some of the agression of the car which is essential to the look of the car as it is.

Really.........Well I recon the other way around (with a few notable execptions NZTVR and P7ULG) far too Max power, if you want to look like a Tuscan, the buy a Tuscan, don't screw up normal car. When I see these conversions, I just see an accident damaged car that's be repaired.

rant over

Mine was not in an accident it was a straight car, I just wanted a change; But because of AJP being so shite I could not go down that route, I wanted V8 reliability with new looks at the time T2 was not around and to be honest over priced.

I have what I like you don't like it fine.

Ditto, totally straight car but just liked the look. Anyone dismissing a car purely on the grounds that it has been converted, and therefore must have been bent, is maybe missing out on a car that someone has thrown money at just for the sake of it. Which would be silly really!

That's funny. I think the same about the so-called upgrade................

They are 16 inch spiders which were part of the brake upgrade from the factory.

The reason why I had my car converted was because I loved the looks of the cerbera with headlight conversion and spiders, but a cerbera has a roof and I love convertibles. Basically I was trying to create a soft top cerbera not a tuscan look alike

If you want one that's already got the upgrade, I could be tempted into selling mine. Don't really want to sell her, but it's getting to the point where I need to drive cheap for a while!!

Also got rear afterburner kit, de-pre-catted, Zertec exhausts, remapped, lots of extra shiney bits!

Just needs a few bits doing for her to be mint. E-mail if interested!!

BTW, the conversion was £1300 all in all from the TVR centre in Stourbridge.

I was 13th on the original list, actually got no 11 cos I collected from the factory (non of the exchange parts were any good so I got new hubs:-) in Nov 2003.

Dont understand the whingeing about the light upgrades.. probably the same people who whine about the effectiveness of the original lights! Design wise the originals are a joke. For driving the newer ones are a great improvement and you can mount them so they are much more accessible, but I'm nore into practicality than aesthetics... If it works better its beautiful IMHO.
