After taking the old girl out for a spin the other day i came to put the roof back on. Opened the boot and found that some of my spare oil had spilled on the roof. (I know what you're thinking, don't keep oil in your boot you K*OB.) But i did, and sadly now have a small gorbachov style stain on the roof which disturbs me greatly every time i look at her.

Any tips on how to get it off? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Nope. But always keep your lid in its cover when in your boot! Not only does it help avoid mess like this, but lessens the chance of scraping the wing as the lid enters the boot!

!! LIGHT HEARTED RESPONSE !!

If you use the remaining oil to cover the rest of the roof, not only will it match, hence solving the irritation, but it will also waterproof it and provide you with an excellent sledge for large flat floors!!

The mohair is very tough so it would be OK to use some diluted washing up liquid and a soft nailbrush.

When I reconditioned my 350i top I washed it with neat bleach first to get rid of the stains!

111-trichlorethane. (Also known as Brake Cleaner) test it 1st though as it may remove all colour and waterprotection.
