Anyone else get an invitation from the (newly formed) "Morgan Aero 8 Owners Club" to a weekend in St Tropez later in the year?

Seems like a great idea for a club, and the trip looks fantastic (free accommodation for members, + free track time and instruction). Club members pay their own hotel extras...

If you've not received anything let me know and I will pass on the details. Club is newly formed organsiation between Charles Morgan and some chaps who appear to own a swiss bank no less...

Membership fees are 500CHF joining fee and a 500 CHF annual fee.

At current rates 500 Swiss Francs is 219 quid - so it's somewhat of a bargain and all appears to be above board - got to do some asking about to confirm everything but all seems legit..

drop me an email via my profile, I will scan the info and send it over, or can photocopy and post if you include an address.

BUMP!

MAs 3200 and others - been in email communication with Christine Sturdza regarding the aero8 Club.

Any of you already signed up?

I was planning to, but having realised I can't make this years jaunt to St Tropez in Sept, seems a bit pointless to pay for a years membership and get nothing back - so Christine has advised me to join for 2007.

I'll be doing so as the club does look like a great idea, and seems to offer some substantial benefits in terms of meets, accommodation track time etc.

So anyone else up for this? Christine is very keen to get people signed up for this years event, but failing that signed up for next year.

Gonna keep if for sure now! Hope to still ahve it when I'm 64 Had such a blast in it in France this year - you just couldn't have that much fun in a Fezza or anything else for that matter - half the fun is the reaction of the crowds to it. Had long conversations with myself about selling it and putting down cash as an aeromax deposit, but with a wedding and house purchase on the horizon I jsut simply can't stretch to that kind of money at this time of life...

Also now the mrs has a CLK as our 'everyday' car there is no real reason to chop it in for anything more practical. In the meantime I've started a small fund for the next motor for the collection. I like the look of the connaught right now, but I guess things will ahve to wait. Got a deposit down on an M15 just in case, but it'll have to be amazing to tear me out of the Aero...

Got a few more tweaks I'd like to make time and money permitting -

Door stays - fit something that keeps door open properly - I get unusally iritated by the Aero trying to chop my legs off.
Roof - get a MK2 - easier to use and folds out the way no problem.
Leather - tweaks to interior to complete - around wheel cowl etc
Indicator Stalks - would like metal ones that match interior rather than BMW plastic items - not found anyone who can do them yet though.
Perhaps look into getting dashboard extended across whole width of car to include glovebox. Guess I'd need to find a scrapped MK3 - if you hear of one let me know...

Spoken with Christine again this morning - she is keen to get people on the list - if only for next year.

Seeing as this is the wife of the chap who commissioned the Aeromax, got to say that she's putting a lot of effort into this - I can see this club being pretty useful given the rare nature of the Aero - making a few contacts with others across Europe who've already tried all the tyres / braking options interior tweaks etc can only be helpful.

Also given the price of joining (250 quid) the package that they're offering in St Tropez (3 nights 5 star hotel, Jaques Laffite on hand to take you round the local racing circuit plus a gala dinner, all apparrently included in your frankly paltry membership fee) I'm suprised there aren't more people enquiring!

Gutted I can't make it to St Tropez, but got a friends wedding that weekend - one of you must fancy this!

Mail Christine directly for info (she will mail you a pack with all the details on V posh Barings Bank notepaper - proabbly a collectors item for the future!) - also do briefly mention that I put you in her direction as she is holding 5 spaces for Aero owning phers for a week or so.

Hope that Boshly will drop by at some point.

Completely gutted that I can't make it this year, but sounds like there will be several events next year (though I have no idea what they are).

Indeed - missed that one - cheers jc

So my breakfast orientated wave skimmming amigo - what was the score on the MK1 roof replacement? Is that just Mole Valley offering a sweetner, or is this a hush hush factory policy?

Just an update.
Spoken with Christine. If y ou can't make it to St Tropez this year theres a different membership rate (100CHF - much mroe reasonable) so you can get registered right away. I'll be doing this myself.

I've opened a conversation about perhaps getting a UK meet together but we're in the early stages of discussion.

Good stuff chaps. V jealous of the St Tropez crew, still I've already taken the car there once this summer so I shouldn't complain!

I've been investigating power options myself (although I think I've got a way to go before I can drive the Aero at 10/10ths so it's not top of the list right now)

Speak to Ray West - they can do a tuning job on the engine (ecu) to take it to 320ish - all reversible. They did the Race cars so know what they're doing.

Other option is a supercharger - I'm told it can be done and you're looking at over 400bhp... Would be fun perhaps!

Do come join us in Surrey on September 10th if you have the chance!

BTW Brian - were you in Monaco at the end of June?

I saw your car on the A4 one Wednesday morning (I was in the light blue Aero exiting the shell garage just outside Taplow) then not 5 days later, having driven to Monaco (route napoleon etc) I'd parked down on the harbour and was walking back past Miramar when I saw your car zooming back up the hill! Was slightly miffed to know I wasn't the only Aero in Monaco that weekend - but very glad to see someone else driving their car as it should be!!!

Morgan Monaco meet? didn't know such a thing existed otherwise we'd have come along to say hi! Was great to see another Aero in Monaco - just shocked me that I'd seen you only a few days previously on Reading! Thats the thing about the reflex paintjob - I couldn't mistake you for anyone else!

Unfortuantely I can't make St Tropez this time, but I'll be joining the club and I'm looking forward to seeing whats planned next year.

Would be great to say hi and get a chance to see the multicoloured Aero! I'm regularly over in the Windsor direction as my brother is over Ascot way.

I figure your previous aero (the 'vivid' green one) was the car I saw earlier last year as SGT were 'helping' RT move it on. It was hearing that car that sold me on a sports exhaust!
