Right then. The summer is rapidly running out - so it's time to see if we can get an inaugrual PH Morgan meet off the ground.

Dates that looks possible (for me anyway) are :

Sunday 27th August
Sunday 3rd September
Saturday 9th or Sunday 10th September

Depending on numbers I'd be happy to open this up to other select bands of PHers. But lets get a decision on date where the maximum number of us can attend.

My immediate thought is to invite the guys off the Maserati forum (just Massers) as I know several of us here have been previous owners, and they're also a fairly small bunch so the Morgans won't be overrun.

9th or 10th sounds like the choice so far then.

Boshly?
Mas3200?

Any thoughts - can always put it back a bit if these dates are too soon?

Ok that weekend it shall be - we have a 4 aero grouping (Assuming cereal brings his pop along) which is probably as big a meet as has been seen in the UK outside of the factory!

Thinking that Sunday might be the best day - so the 10th for a lunch somewhere.

I'll investigate a location and report back this afternoon.
Cheers,
Rich

Cool That will make 5 all being well. Look forward to hearing your exhaust - see if mine really is that loud too!

Will PM you with details on the steering wheel - wil pop up and get some pics this evening to post here.

Main advantages :

1. No more black hands
2. Better feel thinner rim
3. More room in cockpit
4. Looks fantastic!

VENUE

Right then - seeing as the majority are in Surrey (and I'm not so far away in MIDDX) then it makes sense to ahve a Surrey meet.

A great venue I've organised the Maserati meets at a couple of times is a pub called the Rose and Crown on the green between Virginina Water and Thorpe. They do a decent pub lunch and we'll be well catered for rain or shine. Details below. Let me know what you think.

Would be great to have a line up of the cars for a picture or two before the meet. I was thinking perhaps somewhere in Windsor near the castle for a good backdrop - but if any of you locals have somewhere else in please suggest it. A little drive from photo location to pub would be great - it's not often we'll get the chance to have a convoy of Aeros!

Absolutely - the more the merrier

Like the idea of the avenue shot - probably the easiest option if we can get onto the grass somehow...

Failing that anyone think of any other impressive buildings in that vicinity?

Great Fosters is about 1/2 a mile away from my old house - don't know why I didn't think of it!!! I'll see if they would mind a few of us pitching up to take a few pics.

Theres some particularly great roads around the back of VW.
Lets not discuss routes on here - I'll drop you a mail with some of my favourites.

Right,
I've left mail for Great Fosters to consider whether they would let us use the building as a photo backdrop.

I've also enquired as to the avialability of lunch there. From what I can see they will do you a slap up Roast Dinner for 25 quid a head - anyone fancy that or would you all prefer to stick with the local pub .. which is probably closer to 15 quid a head.

I've also mailed Christine at the Aero8 Owners club with info on the date and invited club members to attend.

She is out of office at the mo, so we'll have to hang fire on that one. I guess it might be worth trying to ring the factory and get hold of charles to see if we can get through to the membership that way. Just would be cool to ahve lots of Aeros together before the summer runs out!

Guess the other port of call is to post on the mogtalk website...

Her auto response says she's away until 21st August - so I think you'll make the trip just about.

I've spoken with Great Fosters and they have weddings booked for that day so can't provide a photoshoot venue, or lunch.

thinking caps on for another venue for pics everyone....

Planning to invite my friednly neighbourhood morgan dealer along on the basis that they should have a 2006 demonstrator if I ask long enough in advance...

Figure your local dealer would be well qualified to whip of the armourguard... Either that or it's a DIY job with a hairdryer apparrently... (might be worth a post on the detailing forum - sure someone would be able to enlighten us...)

Reminds me - better give mine a wax this weekend!

Have to agree with all you said Andy - great fun, and the double takes of the spectators were hillarious.

One particularly amusing moment when stopped for fuel was a guy asking the usual "what is it" "never seen one aren't they rare" etc - so I pointed out Boshly on the other side of the garage and he nearly fell over!

Great to have the weather too and be welcomed by the Sussex Morgan community for a fantastic barbqueue

I want side exit exhausts now - they just look so cool!

Keep thinking that I should go for a gTN (if there was one for sale). Tempting but mrs_t prefers the colour scheme of the current car.

However a set of side exit exhausts, and getting the engine bored out to 4.6l would effectively give me a GTN. Might be worth looking into - wonder what the engine bore out would set me back....

Aeroman said:
Why don't you just swop it for a Series II/III Tony. The same 330 bhp, but 350'ish with side pipes and all the other mechanical improvements. Just a thought confused

Could be done - boshly's series II was an eye opener at the weekend - effectively a series III but with the 'old' lights.

Thing is I love the SI shape, and the narrow cockpit the 'old style' glass rear window (heated) etc etc - though the advantages of Traction control / ABS and a full width dashboard are a good reason to trade up at some point I guess!

better get myslef joined up there - good link!

Speedmog has similar thoughts - not convinced on this depreceation conjecture - in the end you buy these things to enjoy - not save money!

The main reason I went SI was very simple - I never saw an SII car for sale anywhere, and with a Maserati to trade in and summer road trips already booked I wasn't going to wait for one to get built!

While its very obvious that Morgan are moving the game forward with the sII/III I think there are details being lost that I feel are important.

e.g.

Heated windows all round - standard on SI - not available on others.

Glass rear window with heated elements - standard on SI - not available on SII. (I have a real aversion to plastic rear windows on convertibles after owning an MG))

Shape of the rear - SI is lower and more 'swoopy' the SII / III is much higher (good to ahve a bigger boot though!)
