New XKR. Does an import fetch much less money?

But boy is she worth it!
If you can't afford it, don't buy it.

£400 per week, plus normal running costs, equals about £500 per week.If you can't afford it, don't buy it.

I don't know too many people who are prepared to spend that amount on their car, to be honest, outside of millionaires, who will probably have something better anyway!.
The XKR is good, but not that good.
The depreciation is dire.

I have been offered a 56-plate XKR, which was first registered in Germany but has been here in the UK, since it was 5 months old.
Full UK spec., all options.
Would it fetch a lot less because it is an 'import'?
This car has now been bought by a friend in Sunderland for £46K. It has 2,900 miles and is a steal, imo.Full UK spec., all options.

Original bill of sale shows it cost £73K.

That is the worst case scenario though. The first 18mths of a Jag are always hideous depreciation wise. But if you hold out the full 3 years, it reverts to the standard 50%.I don't know too many people who are prepared to spend that amount on their car, to be honest, outside of millionaires, who will probably have something better anyway!.

"Millionaires" have it much worse. Try looking at the losses on a 12cylinder Ferrari or a Bentley over the first 12mths!

There, at least used to be, a deal whereby UK forces stationed overseas (Germany) could buy full spec UK cars and knock down German prices and then have the dealer network in the UK treat them just like UK sourced cars. Not sure whether this is still the case.
But it was supposed to be the one perk of agreeing to have people shoot at you.
Any military types out there no more details?
The Forces cars are fully UK registered, UK spec cars which are then personally exported by those lucky enough to receive military and diplomatic discount from the manufacturer as well as not having to give the Taxman a penny. But it was supposed to be the one perk of agreeing to have people shoot at you.

They ARE therefore proper UK cars. If it is a RHD car it will never have been registered in Germany if it is one of those cars.
It does get noted on the V5 that they are customs restricted but that only means that if they are sold within the first 12 months of ownership by the entitled person that person will have to retrospectively pay the tax.
