I didn't think I would be far out but in my estimation you have gotten yourself a complete bargain . Get yourself a hold of a good Jaguar Independent Service Provider and build a relationship with them and ignore the JLR Dealership network . I think your Car is a proper find and you have to be applauded for having the confidence and nous to buy such a Vehicle privately . I have many happy memories of trudging up and down gravel driveways in Surrey and South Bucks doing likewise .Bought privately!
Agree with the above. Italian R Red and ivory is a great combination.
Also agree with private vs dealer comment. I have no issue with a private sale and would rather meet (and judge) the previous owner than have to take a chance with the dealer route. Especially with older cars, I’d rather pay a private sale price and have a sink fund than pay more and have (not always) the battle with a dealer, who may be hours away and already has his sale.

I’m going to be buying one of these in the Spring. Back in 09, I had an 07 plate in a very similar colour. It’s the only car I’ve really ever missed. Perfect blend of performance, comfort, effortless continental cruising ability (although not great range given the MPG), and IMO fantastic looks. It doesn’t help now that two neighbours on our street have them, plus another neighbour has an immaculate 1998 X100. The b
ds rubbing my nose in it every single day as I drive past in my elderly 350SL.

Thanks 8bit. I do have one very close by the I use for regular servicing and the like. I wanted a main dealer to give their advice as it needs deep scrutiny of the electrical system. I've also got a local auto electrician who does dealer work who I'll be calling on once Jag have confirmed where the problem is as I'm sure they won't be able to fix it alone.It was so nice getting back in it and I can't wait to give it a good long drive down to Bristol on boxing day.
They washed it (badly, with added swirls) so I'm hoping for a dry Saturday so I can give it a good mop, polish and wax.
Then some new rear tyres, unblock my AC drain, and start planning my subframe clean and paint in spring.
Is this a wheels off DIY job?

My XKR is finally back on my drive, and apparently fixed. A wiring fault off the CJB causing fueling issues has been rectified and the car now seems to be back to normal.
It was so nice getting back in it and I can't wait to give it a good long drive down to Bristol on boxing day.

Great News and I am interested to hear what you decide regarding the Tyres . I had the pleasure of seeing an X150 XKR on a 53 plate Today . Probably the earliest I have seen .It was so nice getting back in it and I can't wait to give it a good long drive down to Bristol on boxing day.
They washed it (badly, with added swirls) so I'm hoping for a dry Saturday so I can give it a good mop, polish and wax.
Then some new rear tyres, unblock my AC drain, and start planning my subframe clean and paint in spring.

Given the NASP cars weren't out to buy until 2006 and even the press cars were on 55 and 06 plates, and the XKR was 2007 I think that's probably a private plate.Can't recommend the Continental ContiSportContact 7 highly enough, usually discount codes at kwik fit and others too.

This times ten million billiion. I'd have any mid range tyre like Kumho, Uniroyal, or Hankook over the Dunlops all day long. I took them off the rear of a diesel XJ when they still had 6mm of tread left and threw them in the bin after the 3rd Honda Jazz speed massive slide in one day, I can but imagine how confidence destroying they'd be with a proper engine.

It doesn't have a Supercharger , its a normally aspirated 5.0 . Keep up at the back there

I spoke to soon with mine. I packed it up for the journey to Bristol yesterday, started it when it immediately cut out. Normal 'Check pedestrian system' warning message and it will turn over but not fire.
Gutted.
I think that's the end for the car now so it'll be off to the breakers. I've spent nearly £2k trying to fix it. Jag Coventry clearly don't have a clue having changed the fuel pump, CJB and now some re wiring.
I can get the car started by heating the CJB with a hairdryer. The fault clears when I do this.
But I can't go on with the anxiety of it not starting. Plus I've now got a TPMS fault.
It's a (beautiful) lemon, unfortunately.
