Since I had a thermostat and housing replaced on mgy 2004 XJ8, the heater has been stone cold, both sides. I struggled through winter. Got the car through the MOT today (one advisory on slight play on a wheel bearing).

Auxilary pump is fine, and water is circulating through the matrix, so the conclusion is a heater flap is stuck. Was advised this is a dashboard out job.

I read that the X-Type has a flap calibration procedure. Does the X350 have this. If so, it might be worth a shot.

Some sources say the motors are reachable with getting the dash out. But it looks complex. How hard is it to remove the dash solo?

The x350 heater matrix is well known for partially sludging up, on the side that heats the driver side of the car. You'd still get flow because it passes through the rest of the matrix.

If there is an issue with the flaps it'll record an error code that SDD or an advanced code reader than can speak Jaguar will be able to read. There is also a flap reset procedure in SDD.
