What did you have, how old was it what went wrong.

All cars are machines, Jag now is a top performer in the car surveys so whass the prob??

Good luck with the vauxhall, bet you won't look back at it after you have parked it??

Lordy. That's quite a switch.

I think the only time I'd give up the Jag is if it became truly truly too expensive to run (not cheap admittedly but a bit of luxury costs!)

All cars 'go wrong' at some point in their lives.

As triple 7 says, Jaguar has been a top performer in most owners surveys over the years, whilst Vauxhall usually remains stuck at the bottom !

The grass is not always greener on the other side!

How old was your Jag? What were the problem?

I too used to drive a Jag and changed for a lowly vauxhall .....

nothing to do with reliability tho as my 3 X-TYPE co. cars were no probs whatsoever...

A set of front pads every 20K miles in a high performance car like like XJR is good, X type is not a Jaguar

I would be carefull with Vauxhalls. I know Jags arent exactly the last word in reliability but Vauxhalls ???

The company ( Not naming any names here ) I work for has thousands as Fleet or company cars, and honestly they are never out the workshops. They have so many computer and electrical glitches it seems they were put together by Ray Charles and the Astras are the same. Even the little Corsa's we have which are better but still arnt exactly wonderfull!!

My advice be carefull what you buy, they may be cheaper to repair but it will be in a garage a lot more often. headache

Just put front pads (lockheed) on my XJR today, cost £26 incl VAT........also it had an annoying suspension rattle at the front.....lower shocker bushes, bought a pair from Jaguar, price £5.50 + Vat.......what I am getting at is a £55K car thats as fast as (some) Ferraris, can be forgiven going through brakes when they are priced sensibly..........shame you have gone to Vauxhall but you might be back. Good Luck

a set of pads and disks every 10 k is a bit of a pisser

the new engine 3 months after getting it also puts a crimp on your day as they give you a 3.2 sport to drive for the month

Did two sets of wishbone bushes in 10k on my old XK8, first time they took out the discs, second time I caught it. It also went through front tyres every 12k due to massive inside wear

My last Vauxhall used to eat a new pair of front tyres evey 9000 miles smokin
I used to commute through Milton Keynes most days.
6 sets of tyres in 1 year, the shop loved me.
That Cavalier was the quickest of the 4 of that model my wife and I went through, it would keep up with the bosses 16V Calibre, much to his chargrin laugh
Had to drive everywhere with your knee wedged against the gear stick though, else it sounded like an underground train.
