What do you think of this?
Discussion
Hi all,
I have a burning desire to be an XK owner for the first time. I have had Jags for a long time and currently have a 59 plate XJ executive diesel which is a great car.
I do not do a great mileage now so not too worried about fuel consumption. The reason for change simply is to go back to a nice bumbling V8 and the XK is the only one left now that takes my fancy.
I have found this http://www.hatfields.co.uk/jaguar_home/SearchResul... Which looks good but more mileage than I want, however the price seems reasonable.
Not too impressed with the part exchange figure given but can argue that one out later. My question is: What can or is likely to give me trouble within say the next 20 k miles? I know on my old 3.2 Xj the suspension was done at around 60k miles.
What do you think of the hatfields car? One of the few Portfolios at that price range at the moment.
Many thanks in advance.
Pat.

Despite my comments above, I'd probably still go for this car if I were you. Suspension work (which you specifically asked about) is a risk but cost-wise it's not that big a deal in the grand scheme of things, and an XK is not exactly a white-goods car.
I'm on my 3rd Jag at the moment but haven't yet owned one of the V8s. Test drive arranged for this coming Saturday to hopefully rectify that

That does look nice, and if you don't do loads of miles, than at some point in the near future it will be of "average miles for its age".
I tend not to worry too much re miles. My current X350 bought at 40 k, now on 110k.....my previous X300 bought at 80k and sold 325k....!
Historically sporting Jaguars have also held their price much more than the saloon stable mates.

Thanks to all above, very informative.
Well woke up with my sensible head on and decided to give it a miss for the time being. I think I need to get a bit more value out of the XJ .Only had it 18 months.
I know one thing for sure though, the next car will be an XK, the looks of the rear end and in general are awesome, better than the current Jag line up at the mo.
Many thanks all.
Pat.
ps
The wind could change anytime and I'll be back looking for one.
