Dear all,

For the last 12 months a beautiful looking '99 xjr has been parked up close to my house. It has not moved in this time and has just been marked up for sale at £6,995 at 73k miles. I know nothing of the the car other than have coveted it since I first saw it.
I am sorely tempted to buy it but do not really know:

A) what to look for?
B) what to offer?

Advice gratefully received!

Cheers.

Half of that if its tidy is ridiculous, mine is a 98 X308 mint with all the bits done and has an agreed valuation at £7500 with 70k on it.

There is a great post here by Jaguar Steve, take a look at it. Very informative.
Is this what you are refering to ?

Matt.
Thanks both. Very useful post by Jaguar Steve there. I'll take a closer look at the XJR tomorrow. It looked to be in excellent condition when originally parked up but hasn't moved for 12 months so is looking a little sadder now. Could still be a good car under there although the £7k asking price does seem to be in the high side. I'll update when I know more.

Did you get anywhere with this ?
I think he's decided he could get a good example that hasn't been sat outside for a year for the same money, why take the risk......
Yes, that's about the size of it. Having looked it over a bit more closely it's not quite as immaculate as it initially appeared but still a nice car. Given the potential bork factor and the headline price I've managed to talk myself out of it....

.......and into an S3 Exige??
Well, as is normal for me, as soon as I have a few days off work I'm stricken with some sort of incapacitating bug so didn't make it to Bell and Colvill in the end so no nearer answering that one! Still, was recovered just in time to return to work...
