had a previous lease with cvl and had no issues..

strange lack of comms this time though.'

looks like they have sent put a generic email to everyone on a hidden mailing list...saying that your car has an
unconfirmed build date of wk19 9/05..

seems strange tbh

I've got an order number and am tracking via the VW system which states I'm at stage 2, no build week yet. Email from CVL is a little odd in that context. Mine coming from Sinclair VW Cardiff.

This has me wondering about delivery....
Will it be driven or transporter? Does the delivery mileage get deducted from your mileage allowance. Seems pedantic but if you're on a 5k allowance might be relevant. I'm about 45 mins from Cardiff so will probably see if I can collect, but for you that'd be a trek unless you're combining it with a long weekend in Geordie land.

Been told it will be delivered either to my home or place of work. Hopefully on a transporter but the more I think about it the less likely this will be.

delivery choice is random in my experience, have had both car transporter to top of road, and also car driven from cardiff to aberdeen....

and yes delivery mileage is noted when you sign for it and your 5000/8000 whatever starts from that point

Regarding delivery, my Golf R leased through CVL as supplied to VW Cardiff and driven to me in the north east. I then had little option but to drop the delivery driver off at the train station - a 25 mile round trip from my house. As I dropped him at the train station I had 25 miles fuel remaining - not very impressed as no doubt I will be expected to hand it back with at least 1/4 of a tank of fuel. Also after 300 miles on salt covered motorways there was no way of checking the condition of the paintwork until it had been washed.

You can return the car with any amount of fuel.
There's little point in inspecting it as it was a brand new car and therefore near perfect. The return inspection is quite a fair process.

When our last lease car was collected it had to have a minimum 1/4 tankful of fuel - presumably a stipulation of BCA where most lease cars will end up. The inspection took a lot less time than I was inspecting, unlike the previous leased car we had. Also I'd say there is a reasonable chance damage could occur during 300 high speed motorway miles - the OBC was showing an average of over 70mph for the journey which considering the lengthy 50mph roadwork sections it certainly wasn't hanging about. Our leased XF was delivered to us by trailer and the leased 640d was supplied to our local BMW dealer so the car leased through CVL is the only out of the 3 we've had so far which was driven to us to deliver it.

Early annoyance (maybe because I'm driving like Miss Daisy) is that it seems to rumble along in a higher gear than necessary, leading to sudden drop downs and jolts into a lower gear when accelerating (not at warp speed either). Have found that the easy way to compensate for this is to spot the required acceleration point coming up just ahead and prematurely using the left paddle to drop down a gear to get the revs up a bit for the acceleration.

Feels very much like it's happy to sit at 1200rpm or so in 5th gear when at around 30mph, which leads to grumpiness when putting the foot down coming out of the village!
Our Tiguan 4Motion DSG is the same, rev wise - 1250 RPM at 30 in 5th, same at 40 in 6th (it's a 7 speed box). It's quite happy at that, but it may feel odd if you're not used to diesel.

I wouldn't say there's a jolt in Tiguan when it changes down to accelerate. I think the box works well and I'm comparing it to torque converter Merc, which is all but seamless.

The one thing I think doesn't feel quite right is it always starts in 1st but in gentle driving it almost immediately shifts to 2nd. I feel like it should hang on to 1st a bit longer, or even just start in 2nd gear like the Merc does in normal mode.

I paid £360 up front and then 23* £136. Slightly more expensive than the lease companies by £6 per month but there is no admin fee plus they agreed to put a full tank of fuel in. Works out at £3488.
all these prices, including the one above, are silly cheap.

I am a bit tied up with exams until 12 April. Any chance I'll be able to get anything like this, albeit more expensive, in mid April? Delivery not needed until end July..

Very doubtful. Current Alltrack prices are twice these deals.

Thought as much.

So where should I be looking out for such deals? I am not that bothered about which car I get. Budget is up to £3000 including VAT per year. I know £3000 gets you a decent lease but gold at silver prices is always welcome..

Not sure about mats. I think I'll add mudguards (strange omission for a car of this nature) and maybe upgrade the Sat Nav software.

It comes as standard with carpet-style mats. Well mine did anyway and it's down as standard on the price list.

Nope, the huge monthly rental at £67 per month has me wiped out LOL

Seriously, would have liked heated front seats, but was so keen to get order in didn't have time to think about options
