At least the key is an improvement in the MK2, you only got 1 remote key, the second key was a proper old school one that set the alarm off every time you opened it
Thought it was just ours that did that on our mk2, what is the point of a spare key that sets off the alarm!Having to sick a key in the column is quite old hat isn't it. The misses likes to rib me for it seen as her car has keyless go and a backup camera. But still, her car is a Nissan pulsar so that's all she has on the Cupra. I believe the 2017 has keyless and features of a wireless charge point.
I can't fault this engine, gearbox and chassis though, but it's a little old fashioned in places and you can see where corners have been cut from the interior build. Cabin noise is louder than the CC and doing an A road overtake is like being shot at by a messerschmitt. But it's great fun to drive if you want to some play on the twisties but maybe not as refined as it's rivals possibly?
Enjoying the boot on the ST, it's good to have a boot again but the CC does have more cabin space and I'm missing that a little when I've had passengers onboard.

First alloy kerbed, discovered it when washing the car just now.
Mrs swears it wasn't her, I guess it was only a matter of time before one us did it.
Anyone else managed to knock an alloy yet? It would make me feel much better if so !!!!
First day mate! Only a tiny a bit tho. Mrs was fuming!Mrs swears it wasn't her, I guess it was only a matter of time before one us did it.

If you lock it with the key then the alarm won't go off when you use the spare key.The alarm goes off because it was locked with the fob and opened with the key so suspects foul play.

Don't worry mate. I curbed the n/s/r wheel about 6 days after I got it but didn't say anything due to embarrassment. Curbed the n/s/f about an hour ago. They are both minor scuffs right around the edge but still annoying. Mrs swears it wasn't her, I guess it was only a matter of time before one us did it.

My wife has been learning to drive in it as well but she's been parking so far away from the curb that there's no hope of it being her.
Mind you I think I still must hold the record for shortest time from delivery to curbing. When I leased my 2006 Golf GTI in the states I scrapped both right side wheels along an old type high curb. Ruined the inside 3 hours!
On the bright side I didn't get charged when it went back. Result!
The system on the Nissan won't let you lock the key inside, big oversight for VW not to have built a failsafe system in that actually works. I don't see a problem with it, if people want it badly enough then they'll take it - with or without a key or whatever. You could argue any car with a electronic steering lock is just as easy to get into like the CC the ST has replaced. It's insured, I live in an ok area and neither of our cars are what I'd consider to be highly desirable that they'd pick these out of what's available on the close.
I like keyless because it's so convenient, but it wouldn't influence my purchase; it's just a nice feature. Same with the backup cam. We went with the pulsar because the deal was really good, it's a diesel and suits what the misses wants out of a motor and I went with the ST BE because I wanted a fun, petrol car with a decent enough amount of power with a level of practicality.
I've not curved a wheel yet, the misses has curbed one of hers and her car is 3 months old. She's also bumped the wall at home and scuffed the front bumper a little and she had someone drive into the back of her in stop start traffic. She's doing well!!
I've washed both motors today and noticed on the ST that it's picking up a bit of tar and I've had a heavy-ish rock hit the front bumper. I've never really had a light coloured car but the dynamic grey does show every bit of dirt when you're up close and personal washing it. First wash she's had, nearly clocking 1000 miles and I already hate cleaning the wheels. I need to invest in some decent wheel woolies or whatever they are called.

I had never heard of wheel Woolies but they look worth a go, though 40 odd quid is a bit on the rich side
I wouldn't bother with any other car but as we all know these wheels are a mare when it comes to cleaning!
A chap on YouTube uses them and rates them highly. He is a paid detailer mind you so you would expect him to buy quality gear. They aren't what I'd call value for money but hopefully worth the investment.I wouldn't bother with any other car but as we all know these wheels are a mare when it comes to cleaning!
I'm not sure I could get away with buying them for the misess as a present though. Pretty sure they'd end up where the sun doesn't shine. Good luck with that Joeseppi.

LOL!
I did not go out and check the car - that's my excuse. Too busy eating, drinking and "peeing"!!
BTW my Golf R keys had a special end piece design with an R logo - the Cupra is a basic key the same as the lowest spec model in the range. Anyone have anything different?
