I would second this... on a recent drive Dunc's TT got far more attention than my red tubi'd 360

wink

I would suspect that the consumables (tyres, brakes etc) would be similar to a Gallardo poss slightly less. Surely an Audi dealer can give a firm price on servicing?

A newish R8 will cost far less to run than an 04 Gallardo, for example, IMHO. Depreciation would even that out though.

Cant see how dep would even it out. The R8 has very slow dep so far in fact less so than a g so far as i can see/tell though no expert.

It's also all relative I mean the g is 140k+ so lots more TO lose compared to the r8 at 80+K which will lose in terms of 5Ks-10Ks the g will lose 10Ks-15Ks

I cant see how a service on an R8 will be more than on lets say an rs4 as same basic engine etc so 1000per service JUST becuase its a halo car makes no sense.

The R8 has more in common with the cars on here than on the Audi/VW forum. Personally I wouldn't waste my time on the Audi/VW forum. Alternatively try www.r8talk.com.
Oh, ok then lets just change the name of this forum to "Generic Fast Cars" rather than Ferrari/Maserati/Lamborghini&Bugatti.

Whether or not the Audi forum is active or not isnt relevant.

I do not know for sure as I am not an expert either. However, I know of someone locally who paid £93k for a decent spec R8 just over 6 months ago and has just sold it for a few pennies short of £70k. yikes

I don't care what car it is, that's a lot of depreciation in my book (not Glass's or CAP hehe)!!

I see this section as Supercar talk, why are you so upset about another manufacturor of car being in this bit? Do you get upset and think the discussion is in the wrong place when Zonda or Spyker come up in Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini & Bugatti?

True. They appear to be settled at around 70k second hand spec seems fairly irrelevant to price second hand. So for ex a basic spec manual with a couple of options to bring the price upto 80k second hand will fetch around the same second hand as one heavily specced at purchase to 90k.

So it seems anyway. There are very few at under 70k out there last time i looked.

Thats just it. Is it Supercar talk, or those specifically titled? Its fair enough if your subject has no home, ie no forum for Zonda or Spyker, or for the odd R8 vs Gallardo question, but this is a full on question about Audi running costs.

Dunno why it bugs me, must be time of the month.

Or Fiat/Fiat/Porsche/Porsche if we're getting pedantic seeing as they own 75% of VAG. biggrin

Over the course of the next year the depreciation on a new R8 will be more than a 65k 2004 Gallardo. The only person who'd tell you otherwise would be an audi dealer. I wasn't comparing a new gallardo and new R8. As such the depreciation on the R8 will offset that fact that the Gallardo will probably cost more to run. QED.

Agree that R8 servicing will probably similar to an RS4. I doubt it will be less though.

I've been looking for a GT3 for a while and have never looked at Audi dealers/specialists at all. Since the start of October I've seen several R8s for sale: Porsche dealers, Ferrari dealers etc etc all seem to have one or two in stock.

Local ferrari main dealer has one for 66k...

I think, with most cars like this over the next year or so the biggest 'running cost' is going to be the depreciation - at the moment there are more people trying to sell the cars than there are to buy them so a few hundred quid on a service and a couple of tyres isn't going to dent the loss you take if you need to sell!

Now under £60k - pretty hefty depreciation over the last few months, £2/3k a month.

Sorry but this thread appears to contain words including 'consumables' and syner**e' please move it, lock it or stick it in the well hidden 'accountancy rocks really' section mods. Ta.

+1 That.. And even in a sea of Lambos an R8 can still look special, I cant wait for the V10 R8 to hit the streets, would that be more acceptable in this forum?

Agreed. If I want to read about Porsche I go to the appropriate forum, not FML&B, same for Audi. Why hasn't this thread been moved by mods?
