Thinking about an A3...which model?

J400, I was just passing on info, not personally commenting?!? And my friends and you, seem to have the same opinion of the 1.6 petrol.
Gavstar, how about something like a Focus 3 door, they're not massive, and if you get a 2.0 (diesel or petrol) they're not stupidly powerful, but nippy enough and a great drive.
As to the mini, my girlfriend has got a cooper and loves it to bits, it's quite a nice place to sit, and whilst the boot isnt massive, she never seems to struggle for space, and when we've dropped the rear seats before, it was very quick and easy and we got loads of stuff in.
