That is excellent news, is contrary to what I was told this morning, but excellent news nonetheless. It does certainly fill me with at least a bit of hope that it can be registered and head of the increased road fund licence.

Is yours being supplied through Audi Sheffield?
Yep Sheffield Audi... still need a concrete delivery date, but the fact that it's registered already means the VED is a non issue I think... so you should be fine... I think!

Hopefully they'll crack on and get mine registered too. It's had a VIN since late last week.

Not posted a pic in a while - looking forward to seeing more pics from you all soon when all these SB start to land!

Simon - I'm absolutely loving that colour and regretting not ordering it myself. In fact now that my car gets nearer I wish I'd gone for the blue and the sound upgrade.......
The standard stereo is really good in my view so i think you will be suprised by it. I cant help with the colour though! Once yours arrives you wont regret any choices its only when your waiting you tend to overthink. I tried to swap to Daytona Grey but was too late.

I will be polishing and sealing my car once it arrives. I have AD Cherry Glaze and a Meguiars wax but would be keen to know how others get on with alternative products. The sealant is also from AD (ultra slick polymer). I have been practicing with my machine polisher on the Mrs car but its white so I couldn't really tell if I got it wrong anyway! Looks great to me though. Perhaps start with the roof on the S5?

I have also sorted out GAP insurance today with ALA. They beat a quote from Autoebid (and 20% of the difference) and then I added the initial payment insurance as well. Was £85.56 for £15k of cover, two years and £2,000 deposit cover. I dealt with Katie (01653 916304) who was very helpful and I said I would be pointing you all in her direction if you were so inclined.

I wasn't aware that it would be in the handover bay and with a cover over it, but as it was I thought it'd be nice to have a pic with the Mrs. There was no ceremony just the lovely Hollie who sorted the deal out so I asked her to take a picture.

The car doesn't perhaps look as good as it would normally as I asked them not to fully prep due to having the ceramic coating next week.
Look great to me as it is! Do you recon the ceramic coating is worth it?.......What is the main benefit?
It looks nice when its new but the main benefit is protection. As its a solid colour it is apparently softer than a metallic colour so would be more susceptible to swirl marks and light scratches so the ceramic coating puts a protection on the paint, it will also be easier to keep clean. I have just put my name down on a group buy for a De-Ionising water filter on the detailing world website which will also help as there will be no need to dry the car after rinsing. Not just for the Audi but we've also got a black Mini and its always a pain with water marks from hard water on black cars.

Brilliant, im getting right on to that... on the subject of insurance, I've had company cars the last 12 years, no claims in that time. Do insurers count that when doing my quote? I have googled it, but so many different answers!

That doesn't come in to play on GAP.

Yeh I meant insurance in general... now that I've got the reg and I know I'll have it soon I'll get some quotes, just wondered if anyone on here knew definitively....

Can't help you on that score but I noticed that insurance generally seems higher than I'd expect on these cars.

Best quote I've had is around £570 including business use. I had quotes of sub £450 for an M3/4 with the same cover.

Seems a little surprising given the M is around 30% more expensive and quite a bit quicker and more powerful.

Not that a couple of hundred quid is anything to worry about in the grand scheme of things!

I did a very hard water area and last year bought a De-ironising water filter and was very impressed with it. I tried an experiment on one of our black cars, basically leaving the water to dry without wiping it down and it drive without leaving any stains, streaks or marks at all. The one I got is basically a throwaway filter that will eventually get clogged up and need to be replaced. I will be getting another one.

Interesting I am coming out at around £450 (fully comp, business use, wife added, £250 excess) for the year on my S5. I am 28 with 10 yrs no claims. Location is a decent postcode in Essex.

Thanks for the heads up, I didn't get chance to sort this out yesterday so looking into today. I've just gone on to autoebid for a quote in order to presnt that to ALA but a little confused about the price. I put in the invoice value then lease, selected £15k cover and 2 years and the figure comes up at £75.62 with autoebid. I can't see any reference to the initial payment but if it doesn't cover that then surely I would select £10,000 cover and then it goes down to £63.39. If I then take these figures to ALA to beat by 20% I'm assuming they'll say that doesn't include the initial rental cost and add that back on, but how do you get a figure from autoebid including the initial rental?

After much debate and reading quite a few reviews I went for Soft99 - King of Gloss - terrible name I know but supposed to be a really good product.
I was going to go for they are very highly rated "Fusso" but after talking to the importer, he suggested that on the basis I would be cleaning my car pretty regularly I didn't need to go for Fusso as it was really initially designed for people who wanted to put good protection on the car then not clean it that often.Apparently King of gloss has a good level of sealant but also incorporates a polish to help hide the swirls and a fairly good life span of he car. If anyone is interested I will post pictures and a mini review once the car actually gets to me.
I've used Soft 99 on my Golf R and the beading on it was very impressive. Got some other Nipponshine products in the garage which I haven't used yet too.

The chinese guy at Nipponshine is a really really nice and helpful guy...

I told them the figure from autoebid which they beat (like for like) then I simply got them to add the initial payment insurance. Have a chat with Katie and she will help you get to the best price. she guided me to take £15k level based on monthly payments and term etc.

I think its because the S/RS are 4 wheel drive so they are more attractive to thieves. Add in the fact that its 4 doors and its basically a dream car for a 'job'. A lot of Golf R's and S3's get stolen (I've had an attempted break in) and the police back up this theory. The worrying part was being told by a traffic officer that they don't pursue these cars and try to get a helicopter onto them instead. They also said avoid the 4 doors but I'd already ordered the SB by then!

Yes I have been told Golf Rs, S/RS Audis and new Focus RS are well sought after by thieves

That's my main reason for getting GAP insurance.

According to Audi Sheffield, the car needs to be in transit to the dealer in order for them to have the information to register it.
Mine got registered at Sheerness, the same day it landed so it is possible. My dealer was under written obligation to pay the new VED if late though so they made sure it was done and dusted ASAP.
