That's my main reason for getting GAP insurance.
I'm getting GAP on this when it comes, haven't got it on my Golf but I ought to have done really.

Mine got registered at Sheerness, the same day it landed so it is possible. My dealer was under written obligation to pay the new VED if late though so they made sure it was done and dusted ASAP.
It is actually in their interest anyway I would imagine. The cars registered in March may be worth slightly more than those registered in April after the two years with a potential £960 more left in extra tax (£310+£140-£210)x4.

After much debate and reading quite a few reviews I went for Soft99 - King of Gloss - terrible name I know but supposed to be a really good product.
I was going to go for they are very highly rated "Fusso" but after talking to the importer, he suggested that on the basis I would be cleaning my car pretty regularly I didn't need to go for Fusso as it was really initially designed for people who wanted to put good protection on the car then not clean it that often.Apparently King of gloss has a good level of sealant but also incorporates a polish to help hide the swirls and a fairly good life span of he car. If anyone is interested I will post pictures and a mini review once the car actually gets to me.
I've used Soft 99 on my Golf R and the beading on it was very impressive. Got some other Nipponshine products in the garage which I haven't used yet too.

The chinese guy at Nipponshine is a really really nice and helpful guy...
I found this advice really useful, he actually talking out of buying a slightly more expensive product and he said it wasn't necessary for my purposes. Instead I went for spray wax that they produce which is intended as a top up for the King of Gloss. I usually have spray wax in the back of the garage just using the odd occasion when a quick wipe down is all that is needed after a rinse, but it had just run out so timing was perfect.

I hadn't thought about it from that point of view at all, but, you are absolutely right, I'm sure it will have some knock-on effect to the future sale of the car.

I wasn't aware that it would be in the handover bay and with a cover over it, but as it was I thought it'd be nice to have a pic with the Mrs. There was no ceremony just the lovely Hollie who sorted the deal out so I asked her to take a picture.

The car doesn't perhaps look as good as it would normally as I asked them not to fully prep due to having the ceramic coating next week.
Look great to me as it is! Do you recon the ceramic coating is worth it?.......What is the main benefit?
It looks nice when its new but the main benefit is protection. As its a solid colour it is apparently softer than a metallic colour so would be more susceptible to swirl marks and light scratches so the ceramic coating puts a protection on the paint, it will also be easier to keep clean. I have just put my name down on a group buy for a De-Ionising water filter on the detailing world website which will also help as there will be no need to dry the car after rinsing. Not just for the Audi but we've also got a black Mini and its always a pain with water marks from hard water on black cars.
I did a very hard water area and last year bought a De-ironising water filter and was very impressed with it. I tried an experiment on one of our black cars, basically leaving the water to dry without wiping it down and it drive without leaving any stains, streaks or marks at all. The one I got is basically a throwaway filter that will eventually get clogged up and need to be replaced. I will be getting another one.
Did you go for the aqua gleam then? if so have you got the 0ppm or 30ppm? I did look at these as they now offer a larger 30" version of the 0ppm and 30ppm for I think around £90 compared to £60 odd for the 12". I also looked at the DI vessels from cleaningspot that you can replace the resin but looked quite messy and quite ugly. Have you seen the pure final rinse filter? it looks a lot neater, much easier to refil and has a built in TDS meter to constantly check water quality. The only draw back is that its a bit more money but there is a group buy on Detailing world.

Thanks for the heads up, I didn't get chance to sort this out yesterday so looking into today. I've just gone on to autoebid for a quote in order to presnt that to ALA but a little confused about the price. I put in the invoice value then lease, selected £15k cover and 2 years and the figure comes up at £75.62 with autoebid. I can't see any reference to the initial payment but if it doesn't cover that then surely I would select £10,000 cover and then it goes down to £63.39. If I then take these figures to ALA to beat by 20% I'm assuming they'll say that doesn't include the initial rental cost and add that back on, but how do you get a figure from autoebid including the initial rental?
I told them the figure from autoebid which they beat (like for like) then I simply got them to add the initial payment insurance. Have a chat with Katie and she will help you get to the best price. she guided me to take £15k level based on monthly payments and term etc.
Cheers, I'll give Katie a call.

I went for the 12 inch version, but I can't remember if it was 0ppm or 30ppm. I think it's nearing the end of its useful life. Thanks for suggesting the pure final rinse filter, it happens to be my birthday in the first week in April and my wife has been badgering me to give her a suggestion for birthday present ideas and to be honest this might well be the perfect gift for me as I am quite obsessed with cleaning my cars and will be even more so when the Audi arrives.
Just checking out the website now, but it does look like quite a good piece of kit for hard water areas.

Katie was busy so I spoke to Jason and got a price of £93.54 as it was for a £3000 initial rental (£8 more for the extra £1k) with the same £15k claim limit. Never had gap insurance before or a lease car but worth it for peace of mind.

Its not my birthday until October otherwise I'd be asking for one so since its not I'm hanging on for the group buy to save £15 but if anyone else is interested and can get their names down then I might get it quicker;) as they need 20 taker for the deal. I've always been pretty anal about cleaning cars too and the neighbours must think I'm mad as I've cleaned the Mini 3 times in the last week and spent an hour cleaning and polishing the exhaustbiggrinbiggrin

This is the Golf after a treatment of the Kiwami extreme gloss...

And this is my scooby after a full detail (Done by me) and CQuartz ceramic coating applied

Looked in the garage earlier and I've got the Soft 99 wax, Soft 99 spray together with some Fusso coat as well...

Do you use Autosol on the exhausts?

If yes, then you should only really need to clean them once a month or so and it shouldn't take you too long. My Golf R quad pipes are still like brand new and the car is 2 years old next month biggrin

I've got autosol, peek, megs nxt paste and 000 wire wool just for exhausts, depending on condition. The Mini was bought second hand so needed quite a bit of elbow grease but I've even bought special compounds and bits for a dremel in the past just for exhausts. I don't think a car is fully detailed without shiny pipes.

These were constantly polished to make sure the full 110db were fully on song

Glossy looking R and scoobycool

Does anyone know if the car comes with a tracker fitted? Any way of checking the cars location from your phone?

You can see where it is via Audi Connect once you have physically been in the car I believe but at present if your car is in transit and you have the VIN you can't connect to it.

I don't appear to be on either isar highway or city
Of Oslo heading for Kent. 9 days at port now -
Boo hoo. I imagine there there must be a queuing system but it also wouldn't surprise me if it's pot luck either

Some of ours for Grimsby were around 10 or 11 days I think. Mine went yesterday and got to Emden on the 4th or 5th.
