You're going for a Golf? Mine uses between 1.5 and 2.0 litres every 10,000 miles.

MK5 or MK6?
MK6. We lease two of them to the same company. One uses oil like its going out of fashion and the other is fine...wobble

Interesting, although very subjective, the MK6's seem to use less oil (based on reading various forum posts).

  • **Touch wood*** Nothing wrong with my 2010 GTI. In 8 months and 4000 miles not used a drop and no fault. About to embark on a 2000miles+ European trip with it too. Wish me luck!

Kind of forgot about this thread... For anyone who's curious, the car was sold at an auction when I traded it in (for a surprisingly low amount). Somehow, the new owner got in touch to ask about a spare key for the car. He also mentioned the EPC/cutting out fault I had been getting. Its fixed, under warranty, by his local VW dealership. Got a new engine in the end from what the guy said. Was a while back but I'm sure he said something about a cracked piston/block. Good old VW rolleyes

Got rid of mine after a clutch-pack went, which was after the EGRV, which was after the new engine......

Loved the performance but got to the end of my tether with relaibility issues.
