I've just had a text/email saying mine has progressed to stage 3; build week confirmed for 19/10/2014. That little bit of news made me excited ha! Should I expect 4 weeks for delivery from that date, so mid November?
I had a similar message (except for the previous build week) and I'm reckoning 4-6 weeks to delivery - hoping it's a bit less than that...So, like he said ^^^ , how long has it taken from the build to delivery?
I've just had build week 12/10 confirmed too.
My lease Mercedes SLK goes back today and have taken delivery of a 64 plate VW Sharan to use until the 'R' arrives. Clearly I would preferred something with a bit more street cred but its being provided with no charge by VW dealer so I really can't grumble - it is a TDi (177ps) and surprisingly good to drive.
I really hope it doesn't take 6 weeks from build week until delivery though........

Anyone here following my thread on PH, fyi...
Get Email from dealer that Arval need a letter from employer that you can claim business mileage ??
Now the car is supposed to be with with me week of 6th October or 13th and now they are asking for these proof's ?
Explained that i won't be able to provide these as the discussion's i already had with the various back room staff since Phil's departure and documentation i signed with the increased pricing from 270 to over 300 was supposed to be for PCH ?..
I cannot get a letter headed paper from my office and write that i can claim business mileage as that would be against my employment contract and i work for a FSA employer with a very strict code of ethic's..
Just unbelievable that after all the paper work sent back and forth since July i don't really know where i stand now
Anyone else in the same situation, drop me a pm..

I have been following this thread from afar for a couple of months now so here is my update.
I first found about the cheap golf deals on PH back in early July. Having thought they were good value, and needing to move on from my battered 06 Mini Cooper S runaround, I took the plunge. I ordered a 5 door Lapiz blue car from Vehicle Savers on the 16th July. The only option I went for was the DSG box as after years if manual cars I fancied seeing what a dual clutch auto could do.
About a week after placing the order I received a call from Vehicle Savers saying there had been a mix up and the car was intended for business users only. Fortunately I have a small consulting ltd business which is vat registered so I simply switched the lease and dd into the company name and, having read all the updates on this PH thread, crossed my fingers.
The next contact I had was about 10 days or so ago when I received a call from VS to say my car was in the country and I needed to sign the lease agreement, which I duly did.
Then fast forward to 11am today when the car was delivered to my home by a lovely chap who had driven it down from the VW dealer in Warrington. It arrived with 227 miles on the clock but this doesn't bother me at all as the 5,000 pa mileage allowance is reset to start from this mileage.
So all in all what to make of this whole escapade:
1) A massive thanks to the PH community to alerting me to this deal - it's what these forums should be all about.
2) I have to say that Vehicle Savers have been fantastic and trouble free to deal with throughout the process (accepting that I was lucky enough to be able to switch the lease to a biz once required to do so).
3) I needed to replace my old car and even though I wasn't particularly looking for a golf (a C63 AMG Merc would have been my preference), the first 50 miles undertaken today tell me I have made a good decision and it's going to be a fun two years driving!
Thank you fellow PHers.

I have a very similar story with Freedom. Initially placed personal order (for my Mrs)then transferred to business deal. I have a small health care business so not VAT registered.
Do you know how it will work from a tax perspective now this is a business contract rather than personal?
In the past I think my accountant has put through a % miles as an expense? I have no idea how this will work now?
PS I have a C63 estate so I'm interested to see how the R compares. I'm looking a plug in tuning boxes for the R as they have had great write ups

Be careful with the tuning box on contract, the golf ECU can tell VW if it has been altered even if the box isn't plugged in.Do you know how it will work from a tax perspective now this is a business contract rather than personal?

ZoonAs I understand, the tuning boxes are untraceable and do not change the flash count or trigger the TD1 if interrogated, so long as the box is disconnected when visiting a dealer.
This is the opposite to a remap of course.

Hi all,
Just wondering what GAP insurance value you took out on your cars.
Is £15k enough via ala.co.uk or gapinsurance123?
Anyone able to answer the above?Just wondering what GAP insurance value you took out on your cars.

From speaking to the companies involved, they seem to think that £7.5k should be more than enough over the 2 year term on these Golf R deals.
I'd probably want £10k cover anyway - should this be enough?
