Audi's MultiTronic Gearbox
Discussion
Niether am i but nobody on here wants a bad gearbox and there is one sat on that forecourt!!! I cant believe they are attempting to sell it after admitting and knowing it has a problem!
Anyway i have bought another a4 avant sline now, has to be said its an auto but this one is great, all the servicing is there, drives well and low miles for age. Happy Days!

I have a 2002 A4, 2.0NA with multitronic, needs clutch pack. The problem is that some sources says it needs the 7 plate clutch upgrade and software, however a contact at the dealer tells me there is no software upgrade for my engine tranny combination. Is this the case, as if I replace the clutch with the same as the original should I not expect the same clutch wear or worse? The car has done 153K KM clutch problems started @ 130K.

Hi guys
Thinking of buying another Audi auto despite saying a couple of years ago that I never would, only this time is an Audi A6 3.0 Quattro Le Mans auto May 2007 with 17000 miles. I seek guidance from learned members of this forum on any known ECU/Gearbox problems (or others).
Should I seriously consider it or walk away ?.
Thanks.

No gearbox issues on Quattro cars (A4 A6 A8) etc. Good for 120k miles.
Only front wheel drive multitronics are the real problem.
If you are likely to do high milage, oil change in the box arround 60k is advisable, but not on the official serice schedule.
I can't get a main dealer to do it or a specialist! Mine is at 81K and 6 years old.Only front wheel drive multitronics are the real problem.

I owned a a4 multitronic changed the oil at 40k 60k and 80k at Leeds Audi. I'd like to point out oil change only helps in smooth changes but doesn't help the gearbox ecu. The multitronic is the worst gearbox I have had. Mine was a 2008. Better sticking to a convential tiptronic box. I just don't understand why Audi bother with the multitronic with all the problems they have to back this up I test drove a 2011 3.0 multitronic and on set off they still have a slight delay which I think is dangerous
