Does anyone else find the parking assist coming on randomly while queuing in traffic?

Also, my boot door regularly doesn't close properly.
I think you can disable that function in the settings somewhere.

Auto assist i think its called, but you might lose the split screen function.

The front sensors are then only active once in reverse.

I think!

Safety recall for dipped beams. If they fail then there's no warning. Possibly.

Yes, mine was updated when I took it to VW to replace the rear windscreen wiper someone so kindly snapped off in a car park.

This car is turning me into a bit of a moaner now.

Does it piss anyone else off that you have to reselect Sport mode every time you get in it? Even if through the drive mode button by the gearstick you select Sport, when you leave the car and return, it's back in Normal mode despite still showing on the mode display that you are in Sport? Just a bit shoddy if you ask me.

Strange. I leave mine in Individual mode and it is always in individual (custom) mode when I start up the car. In individual gears will always start in Economical (E) as now I have that as my "normal" gear mode, and usually I've flicked the gearstick back to put it into Sport (S) gearbox mode to pull out onto the main road a short while later, where it usually stays until i'm cruising downhill or on the motorway.

Do you use the same key every time? I only ever use the one key and the spare has never come out.

Has anyone bothered setting each key up for different drivers? Does it adjust the seat, driving modes etc as different keys are use?

Yep - exactly the same "feature". Centre console shows Sport but main dash shows Normal. I'm thinking of mentioning it next time I have to go to VW.

Set up individual mode then, even if only to match a sport mode, as mine is always in individual mode when I get in.

In other news my wife has used the Alltrack most of last week and says it's the easiest, laziest car she has every driven, as it does everything for you - Starter button, handbrake, wipers, gears, lights etc etc and she drives a last gen auto XC90 which is pretty lazy already.

Cheers I'll give that a try.

Does this bother anyone else? Bit rubbish.

Is that corrosion on the alloy in the top right of the picture or just dirt?

My hubs go rusty as well.

It's muck hehe

If I was buying one of these new myself, I would look at 12 month old examples to see if this type of corrosion were evident. Then I'd preventatively paint them with black hammerite.

Did that with an MX5 I bought new and it preserved the visible metalwork around that area very well, including the calipers.

Mine isn't quite as rusty as yours but give it a few more months and it probably will.

Received a service reminder from VW saying car is ready for a service.

Checked the service indicator on the car and its says:

Oil Service 12300 miles / 392 days
Inspections 13600 miles / 392 days

Guessing I should follow what the car is telling me and not VW?

Yeah go by what the car is saying, looks like it's set to Longlife. Also they should do both the Oil Service and Inspection at the same time.

Mine isn't set to long life unfortunately, I was going to get the car serviced a week afterwards so that when I hand it back I won't need to pay for a 2nd service. Are there any flaws to this plan?

It will be safer to get the first service done in on time then give the car back slightly early to avoid the second service. There shouldn't be any penalties unless it's showing overdue

I had a thought - when you put the gears into manual mode, what throttle/pedal map does it use?

Don't know but it feels more responsive to me. Incidentally the whole set individual mode to sport settings doesn't work for me. It reverts to normal. By that I mean it says individual but it's not actually in sport.

Mine went in to VW Stockport yesterday for the recall, it was just a software update.

Also got a safety / health check... front tyres are on 3.6mm and rear 5.5mm. Surprised there is such a big difference? Swap the front / rear around ? I'm only on 8500 miles!
