B8 A4 petrol MPG's
Discussion
evening all.
been contemplating a new car for a while...it's slightly on the back burner (for now, just buying a house) been looking at the S Line A4's. Been mulling on the 2.0 143 TDI. but looked at the 1.8T and the 2.0T and was surprised about the MPG stated. how close is the actual MPG to the figure Audi gave? I see petrols are cheaper to buy, insure and fuel. granted they're not AS efficient as a diesel. but there's more power in the petrols.
how to people find the economy on the petrol variants?

I drove someone elses A4 avant SE with the 143bhp diesel and it did about 448 miles using approx 54 litres of diesel. Motorway miles but about 20 miles of the 500 was stop/start. My speed was averaging around 80 when not stuck and I did a little bit of +90. The average mpg is 37.7.
I did think it was roughly double compared to my usual (which is around 20mpg in my own car).
If I were to buy an A4 I'd probably go for a petrol and get it mapped
But, the diesel was a nice low-revving unit and was a pleasure to drive on the motorway.

My 1.8t gets 33 mpg normally, but up to 38 if I drive a distance at 60 mph.
It's been remapped to just over 200bhp and runs on super unleaded which all seems to have helped with better consumption.
That's in a B6 though. The 1.8 TFSI in the B8 is a totally different engine It's been remapped to just over 200bhp and runs on super unleaded which all seems to have helped with better consumption.
